Not necessarily.

It it the people that let the GOP down. We barely have control of the Congress but we do NOT have control of the Senate so changes will die there.

Day one and the 112th Congress has already failed? What drivel! Have they even voted on anything other than offices and committees yet?

You don’t need the senate to put a zero on the budget.

We barely have control of the Congress

Earth to nmh; Republicans have a 51 member majority (242-191) and you come out with this? Would you rather we were in the same position we were in the day before yesterday or would the simple fact that we have numerically put the skids on their socialist drive for the next two years be nothing.

Maybe you were led to visions of unicorns and skittles but the reality has always been to stop the madness until the 2012 cycle when the chance of gaining a huge control of the Senate as well is attiable, not to mention the WH as well. With the current numbers and continued scruitiny of the Tea Parties, which will be far stronger and better organized, the out of control spending can be reined in since Congress holds the power of the checkbook. They must be hounded into remembering that simple fact.

We did not get to this state overnight and it will not be overnight that it will be corrected either.

Yes... they voted and removed the unConstitutional voting rights for 6 territories (the dims voted to give them illegally) including DC... all dims... so 6 less dim votes. I'd say so far... good start.

The CR expires March 4th. We can cut as much as we want at that point.

the $100 bill was for the whole fiscal year. we are now about a 1/3 of the way through it (and the Dems didn’t adopt their cuts) - what i heard yesterday is that they expect to cut out at least that $100 bill in the next 12 months. sounds good to me.

They promise to cut 100 billion out of their total spending of 14 TRILLION?

Now there is some real monetary frugality that you can sink your lips into!

Exactly.

I did a cash flow check the other day. The US can service it’s debt, pay the entire DoD budget and make partial payments on Social Security and that’s it. Anything more than that is deficit spending. $100billion was a lot of money in 1980.

“Day one and the 112th Congress has already failed? What drivel!”

Expect an unrelenting assault on those on the right led by the media. The left-leaning MSM has likely already made a pact with the Dems to carry their water buckets so that the Dems can look more “executive management” than they have in the past which got them in trouble with the voters.

Since when does the GOP stick together?

Have you forgotten about the RINO’s in Congress?

WHERE have YOU been? Earth to mazda77!!!

Are YOU familiar with how things work? If a miracle would occurr and the GOPsticks together in Congress, it goes to the Senate. The GOP does NOT have a majority in the Senate and that is where CHANGE will die.

“Maybe you were led to visions of unicorns and skittles but the reality has always been to stop the madness until the 2012 cycle when the chance of gaining a huge control of the Senate as well is attiable, not to mention the WH as well.”

Perhaps that is where YOU are coming from? At least you admit we do NOT have control of the Senate. That’s a step in the right direction for you. Ask yourself WHY the GOP didn’t get control of the Senate when they could have. Hmmmmm

“With the current numbers and continued scruitiny of the Tea Parties, which will be far stronger and better organized, the out of control spending can be reined in since Congress holds the power of the checkbook. They must be hounded into remembering that simple fact.”

Congress does iniatate spending and cuts but the SENATE will kill it.

“We did not get to this state overnight and it will not be overnight that it will be corrected either.”

Duh. No kidding. It took years of compromise and people like McPain and Palin’s advocating McPain to get us there. The GOP appears to LOVE to compormise on principle.

From the article:After the GOP won control of Congress in the 1994 elections, the House churned out a series of votes aimed at fulfilling promises made in the party's "Contract With America." Most hit a dead end in the Senate.

This is a typical rewrite of history that the left does w/o contradiction. The "Contract With America" never promised that the goals would be implemented, they promised only that they would be brought up for a vote in Congress, without realizing it, AP confirms the promise was kept, then states a blatant falsehood.

"Have already violated" ... past tense "Pledge won't be kept" ... future tense

Only the AP could get away with this. It didn't happen because it might not. Huh? Well it makes sense to AP.
