KRUGMAN: Texas Proves the GOP Dream Of No Regulation, Low Taxes, Balanced Budgets is A Crock
Business Insider ^ | 01/07/2011 | Henry Bldoget

Paul Krugman has noticed the looming budget crisis in the state of Texas, and he's all over it.

Specifically, he is pointing out that the Republican utopia of low regulation, low taxes, pro-business policies, and tough, conservative spending decisions is no panacea--either for the state's financial condition or for the state's citizens.

Despite these policies, Texas is as broke as, well, New York, with a huge structural budget deficit to fill. And it already has very low education spending per pupil and a very high percentage of residents without health insurance.

And now Texas's two-year budget review is coming up, so there will be some more hard decisions to make.

Krugman must live in a fantasy world of some kind. Where does he get the idea that Texas has low taxes and no regulation?

Mr. Krugman is dwelling on another planet. He cannot be resident here on Earth.

Our budget deficit would disappear once we deport the illegals. Illegals’ costs in socialist services are huge. The load on goobermint schools, the load on emergency rooms (unpaid) - there are scads of programs being milked by illegals and paid for by us.

Deport the illegals and their anchor babies NOW !

Was not idiot-ridden Nobel Prize winning Krugman the same one who proved that Keynesian throw-enough-gumballs-at-a-dime-swized-hole-in-a-huge-arse-dam-one-will-eventually-hit-the-hole economics was utter BS as an economic policy? /s =.=

How about the effect of illegal immigration in Texas and elsewhere?

Typical libs. They cause the problems then they point the fingers. The demographic shifts and revenue issues predicted for Texas is outrageous. Just flood every damn state with illegals and their offspring and see what state can handle it.

Oh yeah, I forgot, Krugman’s California. How’s that workin out for all of us, Paul?

Effin idiot.

We should not forget that a significant portion of the financial problems of the states results from UNFUNDED MANDATES thrust upon them by the Federal government. Repeal the 17th Amendment!

Maybe because his metrosecxual elite Manhattan friends think the idea of low taxes is to live in New Jersey?

Hold on now.

Texas was THE ONE AND ONLY STATE that made it through the Near-Depression almost unscathed, and Krugman attacks THAT success as proof of his Socialist belief system being borne out?

Is it just me, or is the left really simply losing it, lately?

Just saying stuff, for the hell of it? Like "Red is BLUEEEE!!!" and "1 + 1 = 1982378.3999198!!!!!"

I’m not arguing with you Laz - instead I’m lazily preparing for the argument I know I’ll hear when I repeat what you said to my lib buddy - but why do you say they are the one & only to come out so well?

Well, while the ReDepression was in full-swing, I kept getting offers from Texas. I kept hearing from many others that there was plenty of work there. I kept seeing a struggling, but still-vibrant economy.

Anecdotal, all. But it was what I heard and saw.

The article fails to point out that TX has a balanced budget amendment in it’s constitution and cannot spend more by law. When they say there is a budget crisis in TX, they are saying that TX would “like” to spend more than they have, but in the end will have to cut from the “wishlist” to maintain the balanced budget and will have NO deficit in the end.

That applies to each & every state.

Even N Dakota is paying out monies for illegals. California has long ago passed the point of no return.
