Republican Mike Pence Introduces Bill to Defund Planned Parenthood and Other Abortion Providers That Receive Taxpayer Dollars Friday, January 07, 2011 By Penny Starr

(CNSNews.com) – Rep. Mike Pence (R-Ind.) has introduced a bill in the House of Representatives that would prohibit abortion providers from receiving federal funds through Title X of the Public Health Service Act, including Planned Parenthood, which received more than $360 million in government grants and contracts in Fiscal Year 2008-2009.

“The largest abortion provider in America should not also be the largest recipient of federal funding under Title X,” Pence said from the House floor when he introduced the Title X Abortion Provider Prohibition Act today, Jan. 7.

“Federal funding should reflect the priorities and the values of the majority of the American people,” Pence said. “Whatever people think about abortion across this country since Roe versus Wade, survey after survey has shown that an overwhelming majority of Americans oppose the use of taxpayer dollars to support, subsidize, or promote abortion at home or abroad.”

This is getting good...introduce cuts every day and totally overwhelm. There’s no way they can defend everything. I like it.

Now we are talking. This is an excellent time to do this after the news that NYC has a 41% kill rate of all pregnancies. Let's see the Rats head explode on this one.

Ok, here is what I don’t understand. Why is a bill necessary to defund them? Just don’t fund them in the budget bill.

A bill to single them out for defunding, like was done with ACORN last year, could be considered a Bill of Attainder and would fail.

Just write the budget and don’t fund ACORN, Planned Parenthood, and whomever else.

When is someone going to introduce a bill to reinstate the ban on homosexuals in our military?

Something is really hideous about the State being in the business of killing its future citizens. Can’t do anything about protecting the borders from invasion of lawless people, but the state sure can invade a citizen’s body to kill a human being.

Unconstitutional. Against Natural Law which is the bases of this nation and precedes our Constitution and gives inalienable rights to those in the womb. There is no legal way of removing those rights of the unborn. What don’t these politicians who advocate abortion understand about biology and the word inalienable? Whether a few minutes separates the place of that person doesn’t matter, neither does dependency. Human beings are not property...they ALL have inalienable rights.

You are right. They just need to make huge red lines throughout the budget and subtract from the total. Are they gonna try and pass a bill every time they want to lower someones funding? Ridiculous!

Forgot to add.....plus a bill still has to get through the Senate and by the Pres. Simply defunding would be much easier.

Why is this even necessary? After all, Bart Stupak got Zero’s word that no federal money would ever go to abortions under ObamaCare. /sarc

If this becomes law, it should be a federal holiday.

How about “Pro Life Day” or “Respect Life Day”. Wouldn’t that totally frost the libs?

Exactly. A bill defunding PP or ACORN or other liberal pet cause would not get past the Senate nor would it be signed by Obambi.

Just like ObamaCare. They won't be able to get a repeal bill past the Senate nor past an Obambi veto. But they can, and are planning to defund it, by simply leaving the funds for it out of the budget bill (http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2653110/posts).
