CBS News | CNet ^ | 1/7/10 | Declan McCullagh

STANFORD, Calif. - President Obama is planning to hand the U.S. Commerce Department authority over a forthcoming cybersecurity effort to create an Internet ID for Americans, a White House official said here today.

It's "the absolute perfect spot in the U.S. government" to centralize efforts toward creating an "identity ecosystem" for the Internet, White House Cybersecurity Coordinator Howard Schmidt said.

That news, first reported by CNET, effectively pushes the department to the forefront of the issue, beating out other potential candidates including the National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security.

Talk about unecessary bullcrap.

He doesn't have the legal means or the authority to do it.

And he won't get it from the current Congress. They'll go after the budgets of the agencies he's using for this stuff.

Maybe that's what the TARP slush fund is really for. Hmmm.

Over my dead body.

Nothing to squelch free political speech on the internet would work as well as this would. Identify and intimidate everyone who speaks against him, just like Chavez did.

This is about 2012. He can sned out his union and ACORN thugs to intimidate, vandalize, beat down, ruin businesses, and so on, of anybody who speaks against him.

or is this just another one of his trial balloons to see if we’re paying attention.

There are no words to express how much I hate - yes, HATE - this effing bastard.

But it’s not reality, either.

Think about it. The left are relativists, so they’ve excluded themselves from reality. They have no lasting point of reference.

Today this seems like a good idea, tomorrow it becomes alien to them.

I am a member of the 60’s generation. In my opinion, the truth of the matter is that we were too naive and ignorant to spot the con at the beginning and most of my generation are now hip deep in denial.

An open and free internet is the greatest danger that our government is up against. At this time they cannot control access, thought, and free flow of uncensored information in all categories. Until they do, they cannot properly operate the Ministry of Propaganda at it’s full capacity and impact.

With the introduction of “hate crime” legislation the groundwork was laid to impose “thought crimes.”

The ONLY reason that we are not a Marxist/Communist country today is due to the fact that over the past 15 years intelligent citizens have been able to freely access the internet and read the truth and have the ability to freely compare articles against each other to fully understand what is going on around them without any MSM interference or bias.

Now, with this new ID system they want, we simply are to roll up our sleeves and receive our electronic tattoos so that we our thoughts can be traced in the internet.

And no one could buy or sell anything without that mark, which was either the name of the beast or the number representing his name.

Because they already control those!!!

Eric Schmidt, CEO of Google is behind this. He campaigned hard for BO in 2008. He is now on staff at the WH and is a frequent Lincoln Bedroom pillow fluffer. Switching over to Firefox after my morning coffee.
