Yes. However, it will be renamed from THE PEACE CORPS to GOVERNMENT SEX WORKERS UNION.
And the natives are restless.
In destitute and war-torn countries people are dirty, and scarred and missing limbs and walk around with sad and forlorn or angry expressions on their face, including the women. They are sick and malnourished and alert for potential attackers. All of a sudden an "exotic" woman with pearly white skin arrives. Not a blemish on her. She bathes every day and puts on scented deodorant and maybe perfume. She's wearing new clothes that fit properly. She smiles at everyone and is full of "love" for her fellow man. What the hell does anyone think the reaction is going to be from a gang of young hoodlum men raised on the streets of an uncivilized nation?
The sad part is these sheltered and idealistic girls have been raised on liberal college campuses where the rules of dating for men include a checklist of permissions to request before each step of a late night tryst, and harassment rules that allow them to run crying to some angry lesbian faculty member with a clipboard if anything goes awry. No wonder they are shocked and amazed when they get out in the uncivilized world where animal instincts are the rule and political correctness and gender equity has never been heard of.
Why oh why is anyone surprised?
Peace Corps = “Piece” Corps
Chris Matthews favorite institution failing young American woman for 10 years.
My heart really bleeds for them and their Obama cult-following parents who sacrifice their daughters on the altar of the Left's "the lion shall lie down with the lamb" and "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing in Perfect Har-mo-neeee" crap.

You have that right. If we all stop volunteering for the Peace Corp, end all funding and let it wither on the vine, the Peace Corp problem will solve itself.
Just go over to a place like Danli in Honduras and see for yourself. It is a nice sleepy place with Peace Corps types around putting on airs as if they are all Mother Teresa of Calcutta. After all these volunteers are forgoing making big money in the states to make humble amounts in Honduras (with some sent to their home bank). But once they exchange those few humble dollars for Honduran Limpiras...Whoa!...they can go have bacon-wraped filet mignon every night! There is plenty left over for the beer budget too! (And yes there are some good restaurants in Danli).
As long as there are dumbass liberally educated girls, their will be fodder for the Peace Corps.......their liberal college professors fill their vacuous heads with lofty idealism and care not a whit about what happens to them afterwards.
These are simply cultural diffrences in values.
We must learn to learn and rejoice in the experience of shared diversity.
/sarcasm/
My sister was in the Peace Corps in the 70s. Someone wanted to rape her, but he chickened out when she burst into tears and begged him not to. The Africans she met sometimes were curious about whether she was indeed white “all over”. She thinks curiosity was what in part motivated her attempted rapist.
As Americans I think we are unaware that in many places on earth, the assumption is that if you are out and about with no visible protection from a man, you are not a respectable woman and you must be fair game.
I knew a person who was a volunteer in Paraguay. She was aghast that young women were not allowed to date there without chaperones. I think she never realized, then, that she must have looked rather disreputable to them, with nobody looking after her virtue/safety.
I think we are very lucky in America that men, by and large, respect women and contain themselves pretty well, so that women can move independently through their daily activities without fear of being attacked.
BTW, the Peace Corps assumed my sister and her fellow volunteers would be sexually active, or else the Corps just wanted to be on the safe side, so they passed out contraceptives. My sister was a virgin till she was married, a few years later, so this was basically medicating her for no good reason, except fear of rape.
I’m all about helping people that need it and the help one that can provide that actually goes toward the person needing help. I’m not about helping nations that have proclivities to raise up their populations to do harm to Americans, period. Our largesse to them breeds more contempt. We should leave these people to their own devices.
I know some families whose daughters did the Peace Corps thing. Once the girls are over 18, the parents have no say. The agonized parents have nightmares, while the girls blithely smile and patronize them for their fears.
Thankfully, I know of no rape situations, but one young relative contracted some indigenous fever, some were put into situations where they had to utilize limited first responder skills, while the daughter of an uber liberal came back from Cameroon a committed conservative who wanted to join the FBI or CIA after completing an International Business degree.
These kids are also counseled at school that a stint in the Peace Corps will burnish their resumes. Not all the examples I cited were Peace Corps, either. The young relative went on a missionary aid venture (and her conservative parents didn’t sleep well for 6 months) and, IIRC, the one who went to Cameroon was under the aegis of some NGO.
“Love the world, hate your neighbor” is a leftist SOP.
Being raped overseas while serving in the Peace Corp and aborting the results is the path to Liberal Sainthood.
Their parents set their feet firmly on that path.
That's a tough one.
Bush? Palin? Limbaugh?
You, my friend, are an eloquent man.
Work out the numbers...
In a rough calculation -
1000+ rapes in 10 years - say 100 per year
Double the numbers to 16,000 - so say presently 8,000
Say an even split women/men - 4000 women
That’s greater than a 40 to 1 chance of rape in a year - I wonder if they put that in the introduction packet?
There is a certain arrogance inherent in the concept of the Peace Corps.
