Citing an imbalance of the quality of representation between well-funded Metro schools and plaintiffs suing the district, a federal judge on Thursday suspended a hearing on the rezoning suit against Metro until a later date.

In the meantime, U.S. District Court Judge John Nixon has asked plaintiffs’ attorney Larry Woods to seek assistance from the NAACP Legal Defense Fund as a way to bring additional resources to their case — an argument hinging on the allegation that the district’s student assignment plan adopted last year has re-segregated students along racial lines.
“This is an extremely important case,” Nixon told the courtroom. “It’s important to the people of Metro Nashville-Davidson County.
“I’m not satisfied with the quality of representation of the plaintiffs,” he continued. “I’m not certain you have the resources.”

Another judge who wants to play favorites!
Everybody else has to go to trial with the lawyers you have.
Imagine this: “Citing imbalance of the quality of players and coaches, the NFL judge suspended the game between the dominating Pittsburgh Steeler's and the hapless Cleveland Browns.”
Isn’t that kinda what is being taught to kids where sports are concerned?
Also, this could be a long and complex case the judge wants to handle correctly so it will survive an appeal without procedural defects.
Also, this federal district badly needs an added judge. One has been nominated and hopefully the Senate will confirm quickly.

City of Memphis has surrendered it’s school charter...wants the county to take over running the worst schools in the state. County residents don’t want to. They know that in 2-3 years the dems would rule the entire school system and RUIN it. County residents are to be given NO VOICE, NO VOTE on the issue. It would be cheaper for a couple of years until the libs took over all the schools and made all the schools in the county the WORST in the state.

Nashville, TN 1/13/2011) The state coordinator of elections has ruled an election will move forward to decide the school consolidation issue in Shelby County.
Mark Goins said this morning an election date must be set within 45-60 days.
The Shelby County Elections Commission will meet next Wednesday to set the date.
Goins ruled only registered voters inside the City of Memphis will go to the polls election day to decide the consolidation issue.
The Memphis board voted Dec. 20 to dissolve the city school system and merge with Shelby County Schools.
This will be a boon for private schools in Shelby County. People in TN usually vote liberal in county races, don’t they? Of course, Alexander and Corker are undermining TN choices too.
County population is mostly conservative. It’s just that we get out voted by Memphis libs. That is why we like our own school/government systems. Memphis would rule every thing other wise and we’d be another Detroit.
What will happen is flight out of the county into MS or to surrounding counties. Memphis has set it up so that if you work for their gov’t agencies you have to live in the city limits. And they are nearly out of areas to annex. And every area they annex goes to H in a hand basket in a very short time.
Memphis does not have the resources to cover services for the areas they annex. Due to their policies they can’t hire enough LEO, because they want ‘racial equality’ and so many of their ‘majority’ population have criminal records and don’t qualify or can’t pass tests for promotion which brings lawsuits. Took a friend several years to make Capt then Major, even though he scored 1st or 2nd highest on the promotions test. Not enough ‘others’ could pass the test for promotion. Then the lawsuits would start.
