Jogger who shot and killed unarmed teenage 'mugger' released without charge (Tampa, Florida) Why is the word "mugger" in quotes?
The kid's accomplice admits the perp wanted to knock the guy out, and he followed through. That makes him a mugger, not a "mugger."
And the perp WAS armed, just not with a gun.
A sucker-punch can easily kill the "target." (A little gratuitous targeting lingo there.)
