What was billed as a memorial for victims of the Arizona shooting rampage turned into a rollicking rally, leaving some conservative commentators wondering whether President Barack Obama's speech was a scripted political event. Not so, insisted the White House and host University of Arizona.
Obama spokesman Robert Gibbs said Thursday he and other aides didn't expect the president's remarks at the school's basketball arena to receive as much rousing applause as it did. Gibbs said the crowd's response, at times cheering and shouting, was understandable.

In the Wellstonian sense.
Looks like that had that slogan locked and loaded.
Obozo......BUSTED!
How incredibly stupid...to use that phrase when all trails lead to him...the left is dangerous AND stupid.God save us!
Did they win the game?
>> Looks like that had that slogan locked and loaded.
err... not getting enough rest.
“Looks like they had that slogan locked and loaded.”
Gibbs is full of it. WHy did Obama raise his voice at times? Lapse into campaign mode? He knew exactly what he was doing.
Watch Bush’s speech at Va Tech. He had the same tone throughout. Never raised his voice. Never courted any applause.
The two are night and day.
I completely agree. Obama’s inflection and cadence were intended to get applause. Everything about this guy is very scripted and planned.
Minimal input, my patootie. All that was missing was the marble columns because they blew the whole budget on the t-shirts.
It was Obama’s pep rally - - the victims were secondary.
I’d like to know what part of the school’s budget the $$ came from.
I didn’t watch obummer’s. Couldn’t bear it, as much as I tried.
At times of national anguish George Bush ALWAYS resonated. Always dignified and solemn and heartfelt; his first SOTU Address after 9/11 was the beginning of the end for me with the democratic party.

Was this little mealy-mouth punk asked about how he felt when Jan Brewer got boo-ed?

That site is scary. The logo is everywhere, but not the American flag.

We can’t watch him either any more. The speech techniques, Speech 101 word pronunciation, the halting cadence; we are very tired of it and hope he is OUT in 2012. - Oh, and by the way, we saw today where “Gabby” could open her eyes as early as last SUNDAY, according to a doctor’s statement. Either somebody is fibbing, or somebody’s mixed up, or SOMETHING!
Yes, it is understandable that a bunch of idiot liberals would cheer at a memorial service. Very understandable.
Why did they borrow a political slogan from the Obama campaign?
Why did they have it on a university campus?
Why did they invite the public?
Why did they give out tea shirts?
Why weren’t there any warm-up rock bands?
I’m guessing it came from their little ACORN stash.
ROTFL, how appropriate.
Does anyone have film coverage of the lib political extravaganza?
C-SPAN or FNC may have something.
It is a MEMORIAL SERVICE!! Since when do you hand out t-shirts, preprinted at that, at a memorial service?
You are there to remember those that died, period. No respect! No respect at all!
No it wasn't. This was billed as a memorial. People don't cheer and shot when honoring the deceased.
I suppose the university used tax payer money for those 2012
campaign T-shirts.
This was a disgusting spectacle. Why did these college students hoot and yelp during a memorial service?
Answer: It was not a memorial but a cheap campaign stop.
Yes, it was understandable because they are Democraps. Said scum has no decorum, no sense of dignity or solemnity or respect for the dead. Indeed, they want everybody dead to save the earth, abort as many babies as possible, and exterminate our older generation. So why would you respect the dead when you want everybody to be in the same state?
It there was applause and cheering interrupting every one of Obama’s sentences. I’m reminded of Pope Benedict’s comment on our ‘culture of death.’ It is far fetched to say these people were subconsciously celebrating death, but it is completely narcissistic, insensitive and backwards of people to ‘celebrate life,’ yip-yip-yip-yip yahoo, in the company of those who are mourning the murder of their relatives. I don’t know how well known Napolitano and Eric Holder are of reading scripture in public. It seemed rather disingenuous to me like they were just placating what they calculated would be a number of Christians attending. Holder appeared to struggle like he was trying to read from Shakespeare, and Napolitano let her Bible slam shut when she finished. They would have been well advised to consider the scripture ‘mourn with those who mourn.’
