YouTube video that prompted the suspension of Tucson shooting suspect Jared Lee Loughner in September was released Friday by officials at Pima Community College and included rambling statements such as "We are examining the torture of students" and "This is genocide in America."

The video, no longer on the website, was released to The Times following a public records request and offers the extended example of Loughner's voice.

There are a small number of people who can aggravate their existing mental problems through chronic marijuana use. Others aggravate them with alcohol or with prescription drugs.

From what I've seen, alcohol is the far more effective way of ginning up your mental issues into bouts of violence.

Gotta disagree when you say ‘small’. It’s huge, but most can’t stand the idea and disregard it.

“You never answered my question, how does it feel to lie on your ATF forms when it asks you if you use pot?”

That just proves you dont know dick about gun laws.

I don't know. I just haven't seen it. I've seen sloth and carelessness develop or grow in some pot smokers. I've seen others graduate pharmacy and med school. I haven't really seen anybody driven clinically crazy by it.

I have seen alcohol ruin marriages and careers and land people in jail for violence - bar fights and such. Not pot for that stuff though.

Loughner was already a crazy bastard, so I'm sure pot helped his madness along. He was also messing around with some weird over-the-counter psychaedelic. I don't know much about that. He also used mushrooms extensively. If you're teetering on some mental precipice, that stuff will kick you over the edge real quick.

He had so many other things helping along - manic role playing internet games, the neighborhood jerk for a father (according to some), alcohol poisoning.

I think he was naturally crazy and, through fate and really bad choices, brought about the perfect storm of aggravating factors to bring it all to this end.

And it appears that everybody who knew him merely increased the distance from him as he spiraled down, rather than try to help him. Seriously, I have not heard of a single person who thought to reach out and try to get him help. They all just basically changed their phone numbers and forgot about him.

I can speak a bit about the link between psychosis and smoking dope (personal experience) Im 60 now but in 1969 I had a full scale psychotic break after smoking just a a few hits . There is the possibility that the dope had been “dusted” with PCP but I dont know for sure....those were the days.

However almost every time I smoked dope after that (I would try every few years over the next 10 years or so) I would experience a similar state which I would label “ off the charts madness”.....to the point that the last time I ever smoked (1983 I think) I was admitted for a few days into the mental ward.

Am I schizophrenic? based on my life since then I would have to say no . Its been an interesting life but not out of the ordinary.
I have no problem with people smoking dope . I dont do it however as it drives me completely out of my head.

We are all a bit different in the chemistry department and I cant smoke dope.I would bet Jared didnt help himself either by smoking dope

If I use, is not the point. The point is that you are a legalistic cretin who feels it necessary to make disjointed statements blaming an herb for criminal behavior. You claim expertise because of being in an ER and having read something on the internet. What a fruitcake!

Having had the benefit of 63 years on this planet, and also having the benefit of a training in psychology and counseling, I can state with resolute authority that you are full of crap. Marijuana does not cause psychotic behavior. It will give you the munchies, and heighten senses, but it won't cause you to pick up a gun and start killing people. It just ain't going to happen no matter how much you desire it.

Sorry, crawl back under your rock. You're just another statist troll. I am a conservative libertarian, just like the Founders of this country! I'll take liberty every time!!!

You seem to prefer to point fingers and claim superiority. It won't work, FRiend. This country needs less rules and regulators (like you) and more freedom. That is America!

herb, heh.

That’s the kind of looney talk I’m sure a lot love to think of it as.

Hey, it’s ‘an armless erb’... yep.

That’s it.

Hey, it might screw some people over and fuck up their lives to the point of schizophrenia.. Oh, and it has done so, proven to do so, has driven people to insanity and so on.

But HEY, you’ll bring up booze. Does anyone ever really defend booze like you potheads? Not really.

They’ll call it an herb and then that means it’s harmless. Right?

Meth is also just like a dr pepper, same thing (in their logic).

Some people have no sense of scale.

I’m just shocked that this idiot could carry on like he did for so long and NOBODY did anything.

During this video it doesn’t take much of a mental midget to see he had more than a few loose screws. And he talked like he wrote. Carrying on about grammar, illegal currency, illiterate people, so much so that he must have been a real PITA to have in class.

Nice language, troll! Who's the looney? You can't even make a cogent statement without using foul language. Yes, the hemp plant is an herb.

You are out of your league... and probably can't find your butt with a roadmap! Put down that bottle! You're the one with the booze problem apparently... it's late, so it goes with the territory! Keep your rant to somebody that cares!

He seemed like IQ90 level, at best. That ex-gf of of his seemed around 80 or so. Real bad. Loughner seemed like the typical low end pothead idiot I’ve seen too much of online.

Typical statist troll without a clue to truth. Meth is a manufactured product which has PROVEN to cause psychotic behavior. Pot is an herb that grows, you dry it our some, and smoke it. It makes you feel good, and helps many people cope with cancer and other conditions. It has a recognized useful place in society regardless of your misinformed mindset. Meth has none.

You're probably just another drunk on a friday night rant... without the benefit of logic!

I seem to remember the same type of inchoate stream of consciousness rambling from the same type type of blown-away pot-heads or worse when I was in college. Anycollege, CA in the late 60’s.

Actually, forms of speed are used and prescribed for various conditions.

Does that make your self-medicating illegal pot use ok.. Nope!

Rationalize all you want in your high brain, it’s not gonna help. Why are you so insanely defensive about this ‘herb’ as you call it? It makes you feel good, so do it, eh?

You assume facts not in evidence. I don't need to rationalize anything, nor do I need to smoke something to defend it against lies and half-truths. As stated, I am a libertarian and feel the use of it doesn't even enter the picture! I m against the WOD. and all the crap it brings to the table.

You're the one making all the smoke, without the fire! In the meantime, I'll go back to my Acid cigar and glass of Scotch... and finish watching a show I recorded aboutN obby Flay. It's more interesting and edifying!

Have a NICE CONTROL-FREAK LIFE!

You certainly have the kind of wacko paranoid thinking one would expect from someone that gets all defense on this subject.

Stereotypes are usually right and boy do you prove it.
