In a mostly serious, spot on analysis of New York Times reporting on the Tucson shootings, P.J. O'Rourke wonders if the kind of liberalism promoted by the Times and others hasn't outlived its usefulness in our political debates.
Writing in The Weekly Standard, O'Rourke excoriates several Times writers for their obvious biases before getting to the meat of his critique:
A reaction so disproportionate and immaterial to a news story by a news organization is indicative of trouble in the body politic-trouble almost as severe as that which the Times claims the Giffords shooting indicates. I worry that in the tremors and hysteria of the Times we're seeing the sad end of liberalism.

I heartily suggest all read O’Rourke’s book “Give War a Chance”. Its one of the best books on the failures of
socialism, around the world, you will ever read. And its very funny too!
Another thing that irks me: The theft of the word “Progressive” by the Marxists/socialist thugs who now run the media, academia and the democrat party,
“Progressive” once meant the conservationist, anti-monopolist, free-market solution oriented REPUBLICANS like Teddy Roosevelt!

Keep in mind that 33% of the 43% who believe the shooting is related somehow to Palin are hard-core liberals who believe everything the media says as some form of gospel and your left with about 10% of the population. That’s about the percentage of Americans who are booger-eating and mouthbreathing morons.
The ruling class will hold on until they are alone in a shattered shell of a country, then they just go elsewhere.

As for the words ‘Tort’ and ‘Reform’, I imagine that if those two words came together in any MSM editorial context, their would be an explosion on the order of matter and anti-matter coming together in concentrations measured in pounds.

I can’t say that I’ve ever seen a happy side to liberalism.
It is either manic vituperation from the Olbermann/Mahers or nonsense delivered with a straight face from the Rathers/Courics and screwball wing of the Democratic party.
The best example might be Katrina VandenHoovel sp? (Latrina Vanden Hooters? Vampirella Pussinboots?) of The Nation: her TV facial expression always suggests extreme suffering from painful flatulence.
Liberalism has clearly lost all pretense to any cognitive basis...regardless of the number of Ivy League degrees associated with it.
