Brightsource investors include Google.org (a member of Van Jones's Apollo Alliance) and the California State Teachers Retirement System. Billions in federal financing, billions every year for the next thirty years in taxpayer subsidies for above-market priced electricity, with profits going to Obama insiders like the Apollo Alliance and a teachers' union? Should we really call this "clean" energy?

What people fail to understand is, the “environMENTALISTS” don’t want us to have any kind of energy. They want to take America back to the Stone Age. It’s called being “progressive”.

Most people are unaware that “green” energy is the MOST EXPENSIVE you can buy! Wind power costs WAY more than coal, natural gas, or nuclear plants. But don’t count on the Media Monolith telling you.

“If the Western Watersheds Project derails this poorly conceived, rushed-through scheme, for whatever reason, they will save American taxpayers and California electricity consumers a pile of money.”

WOW, are the “environmentalists” actually going to SAVE us money!

This has to be a first

This has to be the funniest conundrum I’ve ever read about in a long time.

“....and the California State Teachers Retirement System”

Ya think that might give them a perverse interest in ensuring the project’s success threw the enactment of laws requiring the use of solar power?

Nah, move along, nothing to see here...

They want to take America back to the Stone Age.

Where have we heard that before? Could it be another "favored" group?

It makes more money for Greenies, who then use it to sue the government.

I hate progressives and environmentalists. They are nothing other than warped cults and should be treated as such. Further, they should be barred from filing their frivolous lawsuits.

The same thing happened with the Tesla electric car. All Obama’s SILLY-Con Valley Vulture capitalist pals and also friends of Gore.

Scamming taxpayers is the “greens” business model.

The public is so stupid and brainwashed by TV. They got looted by SILLY-Con Valley and Wall St back in 2000.

There are different breeds of "environmentalist". A couple of years ago, I posted an article from The Economist about the battles between "treehuggers" and "nerds". Here's a link to the thread (it is illuminating):

You might get a message saying “This article is temporally off line”. Just hit refresh — it should come up after one or two tries. (I guess that it's now stored deep in the FR archives.)

Does this mean that Neanderthal Stone Age cave dwellers were on the cutting edge of the environmentalist movement? Who’d have thought it?

"they will save American taxpayers and California electricity consumers a pile of money.”

Don't worry, the environmental lawyers will rake in their millions for litigating this case, "green" professors will get their grants and their university administrators will pat each other on the back for "making a difference in this world".

“If the Western Watersheds Project derails this poorly conceived”””

Western Watersheds Project is the group that sued over the Delta Smelt & got the water shut off in the Central Valley of Calif.

Now—millions of acres of what once was productive farmland is turning into a dust bowl.

That Project is headed by Robert Kennedy Jr.

Most people are unaware that “green” energy is the MOST EXPENSIVE you can buy!

Which is precisely why people don't use it. All you need to do is set up two power companies in California. Let one provide unsubsidized "green" energy, and let the other provide whatever energy will produce the highest profit margin (and lowest cost). Let consumers have a free choice in which company's electricity they will purchase. Then at the end of a year, tell me which one is still in business.
