Pro-life activist to primary Obama so he can air graphic pro-life ads during Super Bowl
Daily Caller ^ | 1/18/11 | Matthew Boyle

Pro-life activist Randall Terry announced he will challenge President Barack Obama in a Democratic primary for the sole purpose of running graphic pro-life advertisements on national television during the election year. Terry said he expects to “wound” Obama politically, and told The Daily Caller he plans to do so by airing pro-life advertisements during the 2012 Super Bowl and AFC and NFC championship games.

“I want to pummel Obama for his support of child killing,” Terry said in a phone interview. “I’m going to use the Democratic primary as a vehicle to do that. I want to focus like a laser beam on Obama.”

The television stations would be forced to air Terry’s pro-life advertisements because, under Federal Communications Commission and Federal Election Commission political candidate laws, they have to give air time to candidates within 45 days of a primary. Most of the Democratic primaries around the country are within 45 days of the Super Bowl in 2012.

Terry had been a “lifelong Republican,” but said he didn’t want to run in a GOP primary against people like “Sarah Palin, Mike Huckabee or Mitt Romney.” He said his roots are in principle and expects to get support from Tea Partiers around the country for his campaign.

It *would have* been a brilliant idea...had he not just shown his hand. The FEC will be able to rule against him because of it being a stunt.

Great idea. Too bad he let the cat out of the bag. The Dems now have 1 year to plan their counter attack. Not smart, dude.

...not to mention the fact that it is VERY unlikely that any TV network would accept and run “graphic” pro-life ads during a Superbowl.

Was it a stunt when lifelong Democrats like Michael Bloomberg and David Duke ran on the GOP ticket in their states?

Anyways, I hope he does run, and runs a real race. It’d be interesting.

Leftists are like the Nazi officers who refused to build their cottages next to the killing fields. They have no problem with crimes against humanity but find the images...distasteful...during supper time.

I was never active in the pro-life movement but I decided this year to get involved in the upcoming 40 Days for Life campaign. I feel inexplicably drawn to do so.

Anyway, talking to people recently, I am shocked at the level of ignorance out there to what actually occurs in an abortion. Yes, everyone knows the baby dies but people have sugar-coated this somehow in their own minds. They do not realize the violence & brutality that takes place. I’d hate to see this guy air graphic stuff with dead, mutilated fetuses but, truth be told, it needs to happen. These things need to be said. The public needs educated.

I’m not sure that he actually let any cats out of the bag.

The FEC would have a hard time saying that you’re not allowed to run against a candidate because you he is pro-abortion and you want to show him up.

And it would certainly be useful if he did it. That Jackass McCain is supposedly pro-life, but in the debates he scarcely mentioned the fact that Obama is the most strongly-pro-abortion candidate who has ever run for POTUS.

McCain failed to challenge Obama on ANY of the significant issues. But that was one of the stupidest of his omissions.

Randall Terry is Catholic and prolife....he might put a dent in Obama’s support should other Dem’s primary against Obama as well. He is also very outspoken and likely not to back down when the Dem’s go “Boo!”, if anything he’ll go hyper on the attack.(I’ve met him, heard him speak at our church, and spoken personally a few times to him when he lived in Binghamton, NY) . If Randall Terry enters this race, he will go full bore and this race will be quite interesting to watch. He won’t win but I predict a lot of the big guns will turn against Terry and off of Sarah Palin.

I wouldn’t want him draining off Tea party support when we’re trying to get rid of some pesky RINO’s via the primaries.

I have a strange feeling that Pepsi and some other big advertisers who are sympatico with Obama will have bought up every second of ad time long before he gets there.

If the plan was to run an ad during the super bowl, there is no need to announce it now. This is a fundraising gimmick, and I bet it works.

The law says that they have to give the time to legitimate candidates for federal office. They will have to show them since Randall is launching a legitimate campaign. Look at the campaign of Missy Smith who ran for US House of Representatives in Washington DC and aired the graphic ads on network television during prime time the last election. The networks couldn’t stop it but they spent a lot of time explaining why they had to show them, which gave additional coverage. The victims are finally being seen and will be seen nationally.
