IT’S NOT THE GUNS OR CLIPS. Shut down the criminal element....problem solved. Our country is turning into a criminal haven..........including Washington DC.

15 rounds is high capacity? Bull.

Outlaw everything but muzzleloaders. I mean, if they were good enough to win the revolution, they’re good enough to protect us from a despotic central government. Right?

A better law would be to elected officials to be restricted from going within a 1000 feet of a gun. One unenforceable moronic gun law is as good as another. Or they can just read the constitution and follow what is says.

Once you use your husband’s death to achieve power, all other acts of macabre opportunism are a piece of cake.

This woman is a human vulture.

McCarthy, who is regarded as one of the toughest gun-control proponents on Capitol Hill, has dedicated her congressional service to reducing gun violence after a tragic incident in 1993 in which gunman Colin Ferguson unleashed a hail of bullets aboard a packed Long Island Railroad commuter train, and used 15-round magazines to kill six people, including McCarthy’s husband, and injured 19 more, including her son.

Exactly.

A great tragedy and at least two wasted lives - her husband’s and hers.

Instead of rationally attacking the kind of justice system which allows a guy like the maniac who killed her husband wander around in the first place and cheat justice by not hanging afterward, she has focused her entire life, her entire soul, brain and body on... sportsmen who legally own and employ guns and law abiding citizens who seek to defend themselves.

Ms. McCarthy appears to me to be a deeply disturbed person whose sense of logic has been warped by her personal tragedy.

Unfortunately, sinister elements in the Media and the Democrat Party to whom the Constitution and Bill of Rights are merely an inconvenient piece of paper obstructing the ability of the better class to control us lesser mortals have employed her for their own ends.

Are we also going to ban SUV’s, because a schizophrenic can mow down more people using one of them in a crowded area than a smaller vehicle, and take out more people than Loughner did with his 9 mm.

Why weren’t airplanes banned after 911.

An exercise in liberal "feel good". A practiced gunman can carry many extra magazines and change them out in less than 2 seconds.

This bill accomplishes nothing more than ego stroking...

No way. The ammo clip is not the issue. As always, when the people are unarmed, then the criminals are the only ones armed.

It takes me less than 5 seconds to drop a ~9 round clip from my pistol and push in another. And with a pocket of them, I could be continually lethal for quite a while.

McCarthy...has dedicated her congressional service to reducing gun violence...

Oh, please.

This vindictive woman has dedicated her "career" to punishing every gun owner in the United States, for the actions of one man: Colin Ferguson.

BTW During the 10 years of the so-called "assault weapons" ban (which also regulated magazines holding more than ten rounds), there was no shortage of "pre ban" high-capacity magazines.

And here's an FYI for the "journalists" out there:

"Clips" and "magazines" are not the same thing, and are not used for the same purpose.

A "clip" is used to charge/load a "magazine" with cartridges.

A "magazine" is a device which feeds cartridges into a firearm (usually via a spring-loaded follower).

A marginally trained shooter can perform a magazine exchange on the move in less than 2 seconds. Had Loughner had any gun handling skills, it wouldn't matter what capacity magazine he carried: 33, 15 or crime bill compliant 10-rounders.

It's not about capacity. It's about victim disarmament. Libs want to transform every Arizona city into Tucson, and every American city into gun-free paradisos such as we have south of the border.

Rep. Carolyn McCarthy formally introduced her own bill on the House floor Tuesday that would ban high-capacity ammunition clips like the one Jared Loughner used to gun down 19 individuals in the Tucson shooting Jan. 8.

Today it's clips and if left unchecked, tomorrow it's magazines.

From the LA Times....

http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-0118-arizona-shooting-20110118,0,6095911.story?track=rss

“... one official who has had the video described to him in detail said it showed that Giffords was shot first, followed by U.S. District Judge John M. Roll, who was standing near Giffords. Roll, 63, Arizona’s senior federal judge, was killed.”

So, with ONLY a 10 round magazine Giffords would still have been shot, and Roll killed.

I did not find any info on how many others were killed with the first 10 rounds.

Take the ammo clips away from them and they will use something else. Somewhere I read that a guy in Puerto Rico poured kerosene all over an entire wedding party and set them on fire with a blowtorch. Fourteen people were burned and five died.

In Kuwait, where it is harder to get guns and bullets, this happened in 2009: The wedding tent turned into an inferno as the ex-wife poured kerosene soaked in rags on the tent and set it aflame. The flimsy wedding tent burned down in just three minutes, and 41 wedding guests were charred so badly, the inferno left the bodies unrecognizable. Two other guests later died in the hospital bringing the death toll to 43 female wedding guests and 52 wedding guests still in the hospital with injuries and burns.

This tells me that if one wants to create death and carnage no law is going to stop them.

For those who do have guns with high capacity magazines, such a law will have a big impact on them. They will either have a useless gun, unable to use the magazine made for the gun, or will have to buy one that is legal. Such a law will hurt gun owners who just want to have a weapon.

You have to wonder why the writer would credit her for trying to “stop gun violence” but not give the statistics to show whether she is a success or failure.
