a) Why test a complete blackout of GPS over a populated area that encompasses 5 southern states? What plans does the Obama regime have that includes blanking out GPS in the South, or anywhere else?
b) Hu Jintao just had his big meeting with 0bama. Connections?
c) This notice was to aviators. People who own automotive and outdoor GPS's may never get word of the outage until it happens.
d) This is a huge inconvenience to land and water navigation. What is so urgent that this needs to be done now?
e) Why can't the test be done offshore somewhere?

That test area is centered on an area the US Navy uses very regularly for operational testing. They may want to see how ships, aircraft and systems function when GPS is not available.
Thats why I always keep maps in my glove compartment.

It would tick me off too if I was expecting to use my trail GPSs to get back to the car, although occasionally neither one will acquire a lock for no obvious reason.

Most navigation receivers these days can switch over to GLONASS if GPS is impaired. No biggie.
Are they turning off the GPS satellite signal or are they jamming it? Maybe they’re testing some kind of jamming equipment so they can prevent a GPS missle from finding its’ target if shot from a stealth Chinese missile boat.
