ABC News Jonathan Karl reports: The newfound civility didn’t last long. Political rhetoric in Congress doesn’t get much nastier than the words of one House Democrat during the debate on repealing the health care law.
In an extraordinary outburst on the House floor, Rep. Steve Cohen (D-TN) invoked the Holocaust to attack Republicans on health care and compared rhetoric on the issue to the work of infamous Nazi propagandist Joseph Goebbels.
“They say it’s a government takeover of health care, a big lie just like Goebbels,” Cohen said. “You say it enough, you repeat the lie, you repeat the lie, and eventually, people believe it. Like blood libel. That’s the same kind of thing. And Congressman Cohen didn’t stop there.
“The Germans said enough about the Jews and people believed it—believed it and you have the Holocaust. We heard on this floor, government takeover of health care. Politifact said the biggest lie of 2010 was a government takeover of health care because there is no government takeover,” Cohen said.
Cohen made his comments late last night, but they have attracted no attention because his speech was made to a virtually empty House chamber with no reporters around to watch.

There are many Democrats and at least a few Republicans on Capitol Hill who say they’re glad former President George W. Bush is no longer in office, but Rep. Steve Cohen (D-Tenn.) this week went one step further: He thanked the Almighty for it.
Cohen took to the House floor on Tuesday, where he delivered remarks titled “Thank God Bush is Gone.”
Cohen blamed the 43rd president for the financial crisis, calling him “Hoover George Bush,” after former president Herbert Hoover.
“Now all [people] can say is Bush is gone,” Cohen said, “Nobody can defend him.”
The lawmaker took a few more swipes at the former president over tax cuts and the Iraq war before concluding, “Now all they can say is that he’s gone. Thank God he’s gone.

I seen this guy last night on the news. I also seen he is from Tennessee and I just guessed that he was probably from a Memphis district?

9th. He beat the former Memphis mayor in the primary for a third term, and then the Tea Party candidate in the general election. She was a black conservative business woman. We worked our fannies off to try and get her elected, but he won by 75%.

An inconvenient reminder to Cohen:
Leftists love hyperbole, and they love accusing their ideological opponents of crimes of humanity for opposing their agenda. However, they have a particular affinity for Hitler/Nazi metaphors. This is not just because Hitler and Nazism were evil and were responsible for the deaths of millions. After all, communism and its practitioners around the globe have been responsible for far more murder, oppression, and miserable living conditions than the relatively small-fry one-off historical atrocity of Nazism.
Leftists love Hitler references because of the meme that Nazism was a “right-wing” ideology.
True, Nazism did have elements of fascism, which has been associated with the ideology of several other 20th-century dictators. But if leftists think they can get away with popularizing the notion that Nazism more closely mirrors contemporary conservatism than leftism, they’d better hope people don’t look too closely at Nazi ideology and start drawing their own conclusions.
The Nazis’ 25-point plan contained such limited-government recommendations as:
“That all unearned income, and all income that does not arise from work, be abolished”
“[A]ll personal profit arising from the war must be regarded as treason to the people. We therefore demand the total confiscation of all war profits”
“We demand the nationalization of all trusts”

In case it’s not obvious, these planks overlap with 90% of the platform of the modern Democratic Party.

At our ages it is hard to pull up roots, and try to find a home any where near the size of ours. If this were Cali or NY this home would go for half a Mil...we can’t get enough out to pay for a new one the same size. And we don’t want another house payment and more debt.
We are debt free except for the monthly stuff, insurance and taxes.
Well...do what you need to do.
Some of us are stuck in this cesspool for 60 more years and need to be as far away from the vermin as possible.
