Palinoia, the Destroyer
Wall Street Journal Online ^ | 19 January 2011 | James Taranto

Posted on 01/21/2011 10:20:16 AM PST by Erik Latranyi

Why does their hatred of her burn so hot?

Ask them, and they'll most likely tell you: Because she's a moron. But that is obviously false. To be sure, her skills at extemporaneous speaking leave much to be desired. But that can be said of a good many politicians on both sides of the aisle, including George W. Bush, John Kerry and, yes, Barack Obama. And don't get us started on the man who defeated her for the vice presidency.

Whether or not she is presidential timber--and we are inclined to think that she is not--there is no denying that she is a highly accomplished person. She is also a highly accomplished woman, what in an earlier age would have been called a feminist pioneer: the first female governor of the malest state in the country, the first woman on the presidential ticket of the party on the male side of the "gender gap." Having left politics, whether temporarily or permanently, she has established herself as one of the most consequential voices in the political media.

They say she is uneducated. What they mean is that her education is not elite--not Harvard or Yale, or even Michigan or UCLA. They resent her because, in their view, she has risen above her station.

I can’t take it. Obama sounds like a high school kid on his third time speaking in front of the class and they want to knock Palin?

I like Taranto, for the most part. But I’m getting a bit tired of conservative writers, when writing about Palin, always inserting the disclaimer that they don’t personally feel she is presidential.

No point in reading further. By ensconsing this paradigm in the body politic, the conservative movement is sidelined. This is the same view the liberals have only packaged differently and reaching a different audience. Writing of this sort only promotes the likes of Romney as the candidate to beat. These people are aiding and abetting the LSM in their coup to determine the GOP candidate for us.

“Because she’s a moron.”

According to them, so was two-term W.

Taranto is an upper west side cocktail party elitist.

What is it with this totally pretentious “WE” crap?

The left is scared to death of the public response to Sarah from the first appearance made before America. They fear her so much, she is the focus for them, of striving to keep the power they now have. She is so excellent, in every area and is such a good communicator, that they are out to destroy her any way they can.

Ethics, do not matter, truth does not matter, ... she represents all that they are not! MO

Tiresome, the way they all have to put that disclaimer in there. Always giving the enemy their due. As a result, I don’t think I’ll bother to read the rest of it.

“presidential timber”....

we hear that all the time, is she qualified, blah, blah, blah. I always ask of the liberal nutquacks around here who say that, “kindly please tell me exactly what remarkable feat of Obama’s that you saw on his razor thin resume gave you incredible confidence that he could lead this nation?”.

Then they just go blank, studder a little, and say “he talks pretty!”. works every time.

Palin is more than qualified....she ran a state with a 11 billion dollar budget, successfully I might add, fought corruption, dealt with foreign policy by negotiating a pipeline treaty with Canada, and as the leader of the Alaska National Guard, she dealt with our security, as Alaska is our first line of defense from attacks from the west. The current moron on the white house had NONE of this type of executive experience, yet did anyone even DARE to question his experience, “timber”, or “hubris”?

Per our Constitution, one need only be over 35 yo, and a Natural Born Citizen to be qualified. Palin is more than qualified. Can you definitively prove that the narcissist in the white house meets these requirements?

If they were honest, they’d answer -

“because she gave birth to, and obviously loves, a little boy that I would have had killed”

Definitely. I’ve even heard a lib say that they really are more impressed by how a person talks than what they have accomplished.

Yes, it would probably be best if Taranto avoided using “the regal we” in the future.

“We” refers to the WSJ editorial board.

“because she gave birth to, and obviously loves, a little boy that I would have had killed”

That, too ... she also “allowed her teenage daughter to be saddled with a baby” and didn’t complain about it.

They hate her.

Lefties, women more than men, but the men too,

look at her and think “I would have had both those babies killed”,

and they don’t like their wickedness shown to them.

"Whether or not she is presidential timber—and we are inclined to think that she is not—..."

No point in reading further.

Indeed, the WSJ business elitists see her as an equal threat to their crony capitalism agenda as do the Libtardians with their Marxi-Socialist agenda.

Taranto himself appears to be suffering from Palinoia.

I agree with Taranto. She is not Presidential timber at the moment. Maybe in the future. She should not have left her Govenorship half way through. Big mistake. I understand why she did it but the majority of Indepedant voters dont. She needs to, IMHO, A) Develop a set of legislative policy ideas to implement, something new and fresh to capture Reagan democrats and independants and B)Learn how to speak in whole sentences, using whole words. Yes I would vote for her myself, but right now, I like Pence and Bachmann.
