Newt Gingrich tells Georgia Republicans he’ll be a candidate in ‘12

In the last 24 hours, former U.S. House speaker Newt Gingrich has touched base with several prominent Republicans in his former home state, telling them that he intends to make a run for president in 2012 using Georgia as his base – and that he already has his eye on office space in Buckhead for a campaign headquarters.

Former U.S. House speaker Newt Gingrich

Gingrich met on Thursday with Nathan Deal, whom Gingrich endorsed during a critical phase of last year’s Republican primary for governor.

House Speaker David Ralston introduced Gingrich Thursday night at a downtown Atlanta affair hosted by the Paulding County Chamber of Commerce.

The visits and conversations – some face-to-face, others on the phone — appear to be an attempt by Gingrich to revive his old campaign network and lock down as much support as possible in a state won by Republican Mike Huckabee in the 2008 presidential primary.

From another thread here on FR today.

“He just announced on Wolf Blitzer he’s thinking of running for President as a Republican”

I supported Duncan Hunter last time, until he dropped out, then Fred Thompson until he dropped out. And by the time it got to be primary day in my state the only ones left to choose from were Romney, McLame, and Huckabee. It was a serious hold-my-nose night.

Guarantee you that it will be the same outcome in 2012. These slimballs are all selected by the elites, for the elites. You will get a NWO/Trilareralists,etc.Then you'll have to select the worst of 2 evils. Sad part is that the sheeple will go to vote which just gives them credibility. Watch & see what RINO they - not you - select.

Please Lord, don't let him sign a lease in my building. I'd get fired after a week. I need to call our broker and sabotage this fast.

The problem is that the American people don’t know Newt is liberal. Those who have heard of him think he is very conservative. The people are too uninformed to make a selection.

He should have ran instead for head of the RNC.

He’s a good thinker and strategist and good communicator, but, in spite of all that I think he would not be a good POTUS candidate.

But, he would have been a good RNC head, and certainly more energetic and visible than Steele was. Too bad his ego presides over reason when it comes to his goals.

I can't wait until his past smacks him upside his lima bean head... he looks more and more like Hubert Humphrey every day... his ideology is getting closer to Humphrey too.
