Spotlight From Glenn Beck Brings a CUNY Professor (Frances Fox Piven) Threats
New York Times ^ | January 21, 2011 | BRIAN STELTER

Posted on 01/22/2011 5:38:16 AM PST by reaganaut1

On his daily radio and television shows, Glenn Beck has elevated once-obscure conservative thinkers onto best-seller lists. Recently, he has elevated a 78-year-old liberal academic to celebrity of a different sort, in a way that some say is endangering her life.

Frances Fox Piven, a City University of New York professor, has been a primary character in Mr. Beck’s warnings about a progressive take-down of America. Ms. Piven, Mr. Beck says, is responsible for a plan to “intentionally collapse our economic system.”

Her name has become a kind of shorthand for “enemy” on Mr. Beck’s Fox News Channel program, which is watched by more than 2 million people, and on one of his Web sites, The Blaze. This week, Mr. Beck suggested on television that she was an enemy of the Constitution.

Never mind that Ms. Piven’s radical plan to help poor people was published 45 years ago, when Mr. Beck was a toddler. Anonymous visitors to his Web site have called for her death, and some, she said, have contacted her directly via e-mail.

In response, a liberal nonprofit group, the Center for Constitutional Rights, wrote to the chairman of Fox News, Roger Ailes, on Thursday to ask him to put a stop to Mr. Beck’s “false accusations” about Ms. Piven.

“Mr. Beck is putting Professor Piven in actual physical danger of a violent response,” the group wrote.

Fox News disagrees. Joel Cheatwood, a senior vice president, said Friday that Mr. Beck would not be ordered to stop talking about Ms. Piven on television. He said Mr. Beck had quoted her accurately and had never threatened her.

“ ‘The Glenn Beck Program,’ probably above and beyond any on television, has denounced violence repeatedly,” Mr. Cheatwood said.

So this Commie Moonbat was for violence before she was against it?

Typical.

You did so well with those...do you have one of Castro proclaiming, “I got my job through the New York Times?”

Very old joke but accurate.

She obviously enjoys hiding behind her granny image.

Beck doesn’t fall for it...let’s hope the rest of the Right follows his example.

Soros is about her same age and look at all the hell he raises. Franny should get the same scrutiny since she’s the same sort of devil.

I don’t think it’s drugs...I think she’s just an old c-word.

Of course, she was once a young c-word with a husband cut from the same cloth.

Frances Fox Piven is a primary example of why LSD has been illegal since the late 60’s...wasn’t Timothy Leahry who taught psychology at Harvard University a hero to that generation of “academics”

Most liberals are just so incredibly stupid and/or naive that they don’t even recognize or understand a threat when they see it. Far lefties, on the other hand, know full well what they are doing and use these idiots to advance their destroy America agenda.

Libs have a long and distinguished tradition of making threats against themselves.

Complaint: The term “liberal academic” is an oxymoron.

Liberals dominate the universities.

Which is why the quality of the universities is right down there with Microsoft.

They go on and on with their leftism and Roger does nothing to stop them

This is not surprising when you play the all knowing master of the sheeple for your day job and write about the need for the violent downfall of an entire nation by night.

But Piven wanted to control the population secretly, then tell the Czars what to do on her visits to the WH. No one was supposed to know! Someone didn't know how this story is supposed to play out and they they ruined the story ending!

In the immortal words of eternal youth and my best attempt to feel your pain, let me say to Frances,"That is so mean and not fair!" But alas, just like the little child who hides under a table to escape a spanking because they aren't sophisticated enough to see the bigger picture, I'm sure you are very shocked to think your little secret to play master of the universe has been exposed.

My best advice, better get a security detail sweety... all "rulers" have to keep paid protection from the looneys and live somewhat isolated...sinks to be you now that part of your freedom has been stripped. I think someone said something about what goes around...

Here's a pic of Ms. Stelter, the author.

From the wikipedia entry on Ms. Stelter.

On July 26, 2010, Stelter tweeted that Fox (News) had the biggest audience in prime time (for a news channel) but the smallest among African Americans.

The story was quickly picked up by many news organizations and blogs.

Reporters were quick to point out in response that Stelter's own primary blog, (The New York Times' Media Decoder), suffers from one of the lowest percentage of African-American readers when ranked to comparable media sites.

In response, Stelter tweeted that it was an irrelevant comparison and accused Fox News PR people of planting news stories.

Me neither. He is all about Joe Smith’s “White Horse Prophecy.”

But Beck is right about revolutionists and insidious commies.
