Phone keeps ringing in crocodile's tummy

KIEV, Ukraine — The crocodile in "Peter Pan" happily went "tick-tock" after swallowing an alarm clock but a crocodile in Ukraine has been a little less fortunate.

Gena, a 14-year-old crocodile at an aquarium in the eastern city of Dnipropetrovsk, has been refusing food and acting listless after eating a cell phone dropped by a woman as she tried to photograph him.

Aquarium workers initially didn't believe Rimma Golovko, a new mother in her 20s, when she complained that the crocodile had swallowed her phone.

I am sure the acid in his stomach- usually used to break down bones- is eroding the battery so he is suffering from internal destruction from the acid of the battery. That woman should be responsible for all medical costs of trying to save this animal. How completely stupid to drop her phone. And she has the gall to worry about her sim card??!!

She is living proof that Man is God’s experiment gone terribly wrong.

And, Golovko is resigned to losing her phone, but still wants its SIM card back since that has her precious photos and contacts.

If Bluetooth is active on the phone, she could pair up the alligator/phone to her laptop and upload the photos and contacts. Of course, that still doesn't get back the SIM itself.

I've heard of alligator skin cases for iPhones, but this is ridiculous.

I doubt Bluetooth goes very far in water. And the transceiver is probably hosed by now, anyway.

They should X-ray the croc and see if it's suffering from an intestinal blockage. If so, then they should let the vets go for it. Nothing to lose by a valuable zoo critter and a SIM card. Maybe try the Bluetooth while it's out for the X-ray.

Cell phones are very filling, especially if it was one of those Crapco burger and fries cell phones.

“I wonder what Ukrainian crocodile surgeons pull down these days.”

Somewhat related, but since we’re just having fun here. My cousin’s 5 year old grand daughter wants to be a veterinarian when she grows up ... specializing in giraffes!

In Poland, you’d be able to see the phone cord
going into the croc’s mouth.

Of course if he DID poop it you’d
have Croc on a string.
