JUDGE THROWS OUT BAN ON ONLINE AMMO SALES
MSNBC ^ | January 25 2011 | Bob Sullivan

Gun rights supporters won a major legal victory last week when a California judge struck down as unconstitutional a law that they say would have effectively banned online sales of handgun ammunition just days before it was to have taken effect.

Given the sheer size of the California market, the law would have had a major impact on national online ammunition sales, and some online ammo sites had already suspended sales to California.

While gun rights advocates cheered the decision, which came amid heightened focus on gun control issues in the wake of the Arizona shooting spree, supporters of the law say ammo sales are dangerously unregulated. And they say they have evidence that millions of rounds of ammunition are illegally sold to convicted felons every year.

Somehow, I'm reminded of Chris Rock yelling, "We don't need gun control! We need ammunition control! If a bullet cost a thousand dollars and I shot you on accident, I'd take my bullet back!"

The shipping charges added to online ammunition, powder and primer sales really jack the price up.

If a bullet cost a thousand dollars and I shot you on accident, I’d take my bullet back!”

ABout 44 years ago I read in a not too accurate magazine (folded paper, staples, ink) that the Chinese RED army was training it’s men to shoot someone, dig out the bullet and send it back for reloading.

I wonder how many of the 150 felons they found had purchased ammo are now in prison.

How about the felons possessing automatic weapons they found that they cite as need of the law restricting ammo sales to the law-abiding? Did even those felons make it to prison?

[Gun grabbers] say they have evidence that millions of rounds of ammunition are illegally sold to convicted felons every year.

OK... Let's see that evidence. If it's true, then thousands of dangerous felons can be taken off the streets and out back into prison where they belong. (Of course, there either is no such evidence, or the gun grabbers would rather see criminals left on the street if that's what it takes to disarm the law abiding.)

I’ve bought from just about everybody listed here, plus Cabelas and BassPro. It’s usually hard to beat Cheaperthandirt.com, but I recommend shopping around because they all have specials that can really save you money. MidwayUSA also has excellent service.
