Disgraced former Sheriff Mike Carona completed his downward spiral from the peak of power in Orange County law enforcement on Tuesday when he surrendered at 8:30 a.m. PST to a federal prison in Colorado to begin serving a 5½-year term for witness tampering.
Carona, 55, was Orange County's top cop for nine years before he was indicted, tried and convicted of a single count of trying to convince a former top aide to lie for him during a spreading federal investigation of corruption in the Sheriff's Department.

I want to sing his name to the tune of “My Sharona” by The Knack.
Dude better pray for 24x7 isolation.
Good
My, my, my, my, Carona.
What a statist d-bag!
Does Mr. Carona smoke a corona?
The Left tried to get rid of Carona the second he emerged as a rising conservative political star. That a police chief with his extraordinary abilities and (of course) NO POLICE RECORD would be sentenced to prison time is a travesty and proof California is doomed.
Why, “Good”? What a stupid thing to say.
Did you attend any of his trial? I did on 5 occasions (the more interesting trial days). This guy is lucky with this light sentence.
My opinion Carona was corrupt and deserves to be in prison.
That is why I said good.
You too have fallen for the media hype.
Eight years on the job and he gets this pension:
On July 12, 2010, it was revealed that Carona received over $215,000 in pension checks last year, despite his felony conviction, as the county’s retirement system faces a massive shortfall totaling $3.7 billion unfunded liabilities. He is one of approximately 400 retired Orange County public servants who received more than $100,000 last year in benefits. (Also on the list of those receiving extra-large pension checks is former treasurer-tax collector Robert Citron, whose investments, which were made while consulting psychics and astrologers, led Orange County into bankruptcy in 1994.)[15]

I think it is a travesty, too. I did not follow the case, but Corona was a hard-hitting, no-nonsense conservative, and I cannot for a moment imagine that he was not targeted and taken out.
The whole thing was bogus. That he got retirement benefits means nothing.
If the Left in California can’t defeat you politically, they try to destroy you financially or criminally. His future was limitless until he became a political threat to the Democrats. Disgusting.
