WARSAW, Poland – You won't get to build hotels or collect rent in a new Polish board game reminiscent of Monopoly. In fact, you may be lucky even to get a pair of shoes.

Poland's state-run National Remembrance Institute has created the new game — called "Kolejka," which means queue or line — to help young Poles understand the hardships of life under communism...

Clever idea for a board game, and a good lesson to boot.

The irony is that the Institute is "state-run."

We should invent one called Depression where people lose their jobs, their homes and only the bankers get to have the get out of jail card free. One of the spaces could be JP Morgans food stamp line and the Banker would be the treasury you know to imitate real life.

The More Americans That Go On Food Stamps The More Money JP Morgan Makes

===The irony is that the Institute is "state-run."===

The question is what the term "state" refers to and who that state belongs to.
I don't understand your, looks like a negative, attitude to the state of Poland. Since 1795 Poland has been Independent only for 42 years. 42 free years against 216 of slavery. Is this to be too much?

Tell me, what is the difference between communist and contemporary Poland?

The territory is the same. The official language is the same. The people's the same. The national anthem is the same, etc.etc.

So, what is different?  THE STATE IS DIFFERENT!

We have the  Independent State of Poland now. Perhaps it's not perfect and with numerous problems, even strongly torn apart with political argument, but THIS IS our country, our beloved State of Poland, not German, not Soviet, but ours - free and independent.

For us, the people of Poland, our State does not mean oppression, a kind of a fiscal thug who robs pockets, or something to be diminished. Our State is our pride and the visual sign of our free national existence and  Its symbol is the  WHITE  EAGLE  IN  CROWN  ON  THE  RED  BACKGROUND. After WWII, hundreds of thousands of Poles died from the hands of communist invaders for their unbroken commitment to the Independent State of Poland, the State represented by the White Eagle in Crown.

By the way, mind the fact that the Crown itself does not stand for a monarchy, since we are not one.  The Crown has been an untouchable, irremovable, natural part of the sign of the Independent State of Poland for a thousand years. Cutting it off could be nothing but a blasphemy that hits and cripples the nation.

Perhaps, you don't know that our attitude to the State of Poland is expressed in public with joy and pride, in lots of different ways and forms:

[Presidential room in the Polish Air Force One (left). Note the coat-of-arm, which miraculously survived from the crash Apr.10,2010 - already the most sacred national thing)]

POLAND UNDER COMMUNIST OCCUPATION

This is the coat-of-arm of the communist Poland - never my state, although I was born there. You must know, the Polish people was brutally forced to accept it, although it was commonly rejected as a symbol of bloody invaders.  We called it contemptuously, "czerwona wrona" or "czerwona glapa", and it means a red crow or just a loud squawking bird. I can pee on this symbol, as this is the thing that represents the hostile state which was built upon blood and tears of millions of Polish patriots, murdered Polish officers in Katyn, millions of the expelled, etc. It was built on the dead body of  my beloved Poland, generations of Poles fought for.

Perhaps, one day you'll change your mind regarding the state.

Just conjure up a vision of Soviet troops on the streets of Washington, millions of patriots imprisoned or shipped to the frosts of the far North, tens of thousand of US army officers barbarically murdered by shooting the back of their head. Just imagine the White House with the red hammer and sickle flag above it. No jazz clubs, no tradition allowed, no freedom of movement, no freedom of speech. Fouding Fathers, Pulaski, Kosciusco, Lafayette and others are banned and called  e.g. imperialistic warmongers. The shot dead US army patriots are repeatedly named fascist by mass media , while their murderers are called "liberators" to whom you simply have to declare loyalty and friendship...anyway,  try to live in denial to "these simple facts", try to say anything else, try to speak up your mind. If that doesn't speak much to you, just conjure up a vision of  the U.S. flag without stars in its left upper corner or the original stars changed with the red Soviet ones!  That would be more you could stand, I'm sure.

I hope you now understand what the STATE is. Ain't something to ridicule or diminish for sure:-(

By the way, IPN, the state-run Institute of the National Remembrance is one of the biggest achievements and prides of free Poland. It's powerful and great just because it's an official state institution.  It is equipped with rights and meanings to investigate, prosecute and charge both Hitlerite Germany and communist criminals and bring them to justice ON BEHALF OF THE REPUBLIC OF POLAND , no matter their age. Can you imagine FBI being a non-state institution? A private one?

Actually, with your criticism so hard to understand to me, you place yourself among post communists who are natural declared enemies of the Institute.

Yes, it is ironic, because to us it is never the role of state, as we view it in America, to produce board games or any other products for mass consumption, get it?

I'm a part of Solidarity Revolution. I'm 43. I remember the price we had to pay for freedom , I remember the taste goods in communist stores (yuck!), etc, etc. However, my kids can't understand that there was one TV with 90& of communist propaganda, no Cartoon Network, no Internet, no Satellite TV, etc. In schools we had to fight for crosses, etc. (in America, 90% Christian, it looks pointless anyway, I think - not in Poland)

Who's gonna do it? Who's gonna recall the nightmare of communism to the youth ? Private companies?

If it wasn't so serious, I could only laugh at this. I don't do it since a kid in my school being asked about the signs of the coming Christmas Day answered it begins with Coca Cola Santas in their huge trucks who appear in the streets.
Hopefully, this was one for 30. Others didn't have such brains washed with commercials. Briefly, a capitalistic indoctrination of buying and buying and buying replaced the communist Marxist one. I don't know which one is more destructive. Both make crap of children's brains.

Thank God, we have the Institutions and still free State. Thanks to them, our kids are not only exposed to silly cartoons or commercials, but also have an access to knowledge to grow up as a conscious human being with ability to distinguish what is right and what is wrong.
