(CNN) -- After the Academy Awards ceremony in 2010, there was a great deal of hope that the glass ceiling had finally been shattered in Hollywood.
"The Kathryn Bigelow" effect was coined by some industry observers who believed that her win for "The Hurt Locker," the first Oscar for a woman director, would open doors of opportunity for females behind the camera. The riveting film "Precious" yielded a best supporting actress win for African-American performer Mo'Nique, and the first ever statuette for an African-American screenwriter in the best adapted screenplay category went to Geoffrey Fletcher.
But that was last year.
This year there was a decided dearth of diversity in the Oscar nominations. There are no women or people of color among the director nominees, and the acting nominees are all white. Javier Bardem, who is up for best actor for his role in "Biutiful,' is a Spaniard and therefore European.
Which begs the question: Why in an era of ever increasing diversity among movie audiences is that not being reflected among the nominees for Hollywood's most prestigious award? Where are the diverse faces both in front of and behind the cameras?

...that only counts when they have to be riled up, Jackson and Sharpton are laying low counting money.....
Couldn’t they do another Sidney Poitier grovel-fest?
Like all the rules, diversity is for the little people.
And how come men never win the Best Actress award? That’s sexist on it’s face.
And another thing... The Hurt Locker wasn’t all that, was it?
I'm just guessing, but maybe it has to do with qualifications rather than skin color?
Well, maybe next year all of the illegal immigrant blaxican trangender actors and filmmakers can make the best movies, and we can have a show with no white people at all in it!
All you have to do is make better movies! I somehow doubt even then, we’d see a “Oh noes, where are all the crackers?” article from CNN, especially as their lead story.
I’m so done with this crap.
Maybe the appropriate committee in the House should conduct an investigation concerning the lack of diversity in Hollywood movies. Get Spielberg and Meathead and all the usual suspects to come and explain under oath.
I didn’t realize that race mattered one way or the other when passing out merit based awards. Shows what I know.
Maybe they should ask Kenyae about this, after all, Taylor Swift didn’t deserve her award because Boyonce was black and Obama is the man.

If I’m a male actor playing a male supporting role and win an Oscar for the performance, can I claim that I identify as a female and demand the award for best actress in a supporting role? Just askin’.
Obamaville
Are you series? Are you series?
Anyone looking for a good movie to see, here are my grades for currently showing movies:
The Fighter, A
The King’s Speech B
The Green Hornet C

and the award for the blackest actor goes to (drum roll)...Denzel Washington! yeah! applause.
Where’s the diversity at the Oscars?

Maybe the diverse were not the best? This whole diversity mess gets downright silly.
CNN doesn’t look all that diverse.
Lisa needs to tell CNN to get her face out there— in the name of diversity— or does that take more courage than she’s willing to exert?
Charity starts at home, Lisa.
