Chocolate strawberries among extravagant demands by Nancy Pelosi as she spent $101,000 in two years on services while travelling with US Airforce

If the US Airforce did all airline food, it would be strawberries dipped in dark chocolate and grilled chicken salads all round.

Unfortunately this luxury is reserved for top US politicians alone, as new documents detailing Nancy Pelosi's travel expenses reveal.

The former House Speaker was showered with a cornucopia of gourmet food and alcohol as she travelled over 90,000 miles around the world in just nine months last year - all courtesy of the US Airforce (USAF).

On one overseas excursion, her office even wrote to the USAF asking for strawberries dipped in dark chocolate as a birthday treat.

The documents, uncovered by political corruption watchdog Judicial Watch, reveal that the US taxpayer was billed for $101,429 (£64,000) in Mrs Pelosi's in-flight services over a period of two years.

One internal Air Force email sent on March 25, 2010 said: 'The speaker’s office is requesting egg salad sandwiches on wheat toast with fruit (watermelon, etc) for desert [sic].

Absolutely dispicable. Can you imagine what a person like that is actually like? It must be completely suffocating to be in the same room with that hag.

Someone in congress should take to the floor of the house and read all of these extravagances into the congressional record, and then introduce legislation requiring Queen Nancy to reimburse the taxpayers for this. At the very least, we should not pass up this great opportunity to shame the hell out of these elitist pigs.

I really don’t see why she can’t be billed for this, especially given the fact she’s very wealthy.

In my America, we the people are the government; those folks in Washington are our employees, sent there to do our bidding. The reason we are going bankrupt is because the employers have been allowing the employees to take far too many liberties for far too long.

We need to hold them accountable for their abuses and set the climate and tone for them to operate in. An employee who fears the consequences of stealing a pen and a pad of post-it notes would never even contemplate embezzling hundreds of thousands of dollars.

We have been sloppy, apathetic managers of our employees, and if we don't start ringing some bells on the little things, we're going out of business sooner rather than later.

Your comment reminded me of something. Just before the election, I was at the Real Estate office and the manager’s (he’s a liberal Jew) wife came in one evening. I was in the conference room watching the news about Palin and in walks this lib. Never met her in my life and she proceeds to start lecturing and bit*hing out loud about the “wardrobe” costs of Palin. If she mentioned $150K once, she mentioned it a hundred times.
While this tight ass lib is going on and on, I’m sitting there thinking “why is this ok; I’ve never met this woman in my life”. Personally, I would never start belittling or ranting about someone to someone I never met. But it was clear, she knows I’m conservative and like a true lib, believes it’s ok to bash conservatives to conservatives (or anyone who will listen).

I should email this article to her.

I think you’re wrong here...these outlandish perks are like a gateway drug...it’s one of the ways the liars and thieves in Washington (and all other legislative bodies for that matter) get addicted to OPiuM.

When they feel so entitled to spend so freely and without consequence on small things like this, there’s no reason to expect that won’t spend the same way with the big ticket items. It’s not their own money, so they don’t care. It’s an attitude that has to be changed.

I think smashing their grubby fingers whilst they are in the cookie jar will go a long way towards curbing their enthusiasm for spending overall.

Our very own Marie Antionette.

Unfortunate that history won't repeat itself this time around.

She’ll have no shame about it, because the little people owe it to her.

Don't be fooled. It's not entirely Pelosi. It's standard stuff to advance menu requests to passengers when flying executive aircraft. The airforce does provide the same level of service to VIP's as any executive charter service. It is congress ya know who appropriates the budgets for the airforce.

Did you know every general in the armed forces gets his or her own aircraft, with a flight crew dedicated to it? Lear jets, Citation Jets, Gulfstreams, and even the lowly one star generals get King Airs'. They also enjoy such catering when they travel. They go to football games, take the kids to college for holiday breaks, and live the same good life pelosi is living.

I don’t know, chocolate covered strawberries on military flights have some sort of geometric logic.

I read the article. It was a little vague, but the AF estimated a cost of over 28K per flight, with over 100 "Pelosi-Led Congressional Delegations". Interesting euphemism.

Anyhoow, That's 3 million, more-or-less, to fly this fool around for a couple of years. More money than most people would see in a lifetime.

I'm glad to see that the adults are back in charge. Boehner is flying commercial, good for him.

Rock Stars get perks on tour by supplying the venue managers with lists of stuff that must be provided gratis at their shows backstage dressing rooms. I guess Pelosi thinks she should too..........

At least she didn't demand rose petals in her toilet like Barbra Streisand.

we’ve got deadly serious, economy destroying things going on.

This is one of them, it indicates the mindset of
corruption inculcated in the political elite.
It’s time to start cleaning house and you start

The point is that the stated bill was just for services and does not count the cost of those 90,000 miles and the costs that she incurred while on the ground both in the U.S. and abroad. She is just one of the democrats doing this. You don’t allow them to get away with this self-serving crap and keep in mind that a little bit here and a little bit there and pretty soon it turns into real money. Hell, it’s all real money and it’s our money, not theirs.

Traditionally, performers made screwy requests in order to test the company. If you lack the competence to handle a quirky candy order, I'm not going to trust you with my expensive gear!

Later, "performers" and "artists" started making bizarre requests. Sometimes the do it to add a "mystique" to their persona. Usually it's just because they're weirdos.
