NBC’s “Harry’s Law” Is Leftist Claptrap
David Horowitz's NewsReal Blog ^ | January 25, 2011 | Megan Fox

I have to laugh every time I hear leftists defend their awful ideas like population control, universal "health care," and the benefits of Communism. As usual, the first response that always comes to my mind is, "You first!" Tonight's example comes from NBC's new show starring Kathy Bates, Harry's Law. I don't go into network TV shows expecting conservative values or anything, but I am always surprised when they go off the deep end pushing the Left's point of view with the ferocity of terrorized Scotts wielding a battering ram. Harry's Law is so far left and over the top, it's riotously funny for reasons the writers never intended.

I missed the first episode so I started with episode two, but I quickly figured out that Harry (Bates' character) left a high-powered position at a respectable law firm to open a storefront in the ghetto. This is a favorite story-line for the Left. They only love lawyers when they defend guilty criminals for free. Prosecutors need not apply. So it began in the usual way, propping up people who gave up the American Dream to work for socks full of change from the desperately poor. (How they pay for their unlimited data plans and designer suits is a mystery.) This show is chocked full of stereotypes and, dare I say racist ones, like the "wise old black woman."

I like Kathy Bates. So, I watched the first episode. When she said something about Rush Limbaugh’s drug use, I turned the show off. Not my cup of tea, as you can see from my tagline.

Harry's Law is so far left and over the top,...

As is USA network's Fairly Legal with Sarah Shahi.

Pretty girl with no truth filter.

On the new NBC show “Harry's Law,” Kathy Bates plays a patent lawyer gone rogue. After a series of random life-altering events, she ends up running a law office out of an abandoned shoe store in a crime-ridden neighborhood in Cincinnati and has to beg her insurance agent to extend malpractice coverage.

******

I haven't seen her in ANYTHING since Titanic. I don't watch many movies or television shows.

What’s a “terrorized Scott”? Does he mean to write “Scot”? Cause that would at least make sense. I guess the author’s not so smart after all.

It’s Jimmy Smits “Outlaw” redux...the same liberal BS that is unwatchable. And they wonder why nobody watches their programming.

Jim Bakker did more to damage Christianity than the leftist Hollywood types will ever accomplish.

Fakes and Flakes - standard entertainment for duping the masses.

I’ve read somewhere that propaganda works best when done with subtlety—I guess these people haven’t figured that out. Or maybe they just can’t help themselves.

You mean like Sam Waterston on "Law & Order"? He's the biggest wacky lefty around. Not to mention I learned on L&O that New York Police Detectives are almost all liberal democRATs!

""""Dunno. I only watched around the first half an hour of the first episode, when Batesy launched her tirade against Limbaugh""""

THE FIRST HALF HOUR????? that right there just shows even THEY know this show will not last, and they had to get that DIG in right off the bat.

The first 1/2 hour,, Pathetic little creatures.

Too bad, Kathy Bates is one of the best actresses out there. She ruled in her Stephen King roles. Remember her as Libby Holden in Primary Colors?

One that surprises me is “The Good Wife”.

They set up all the liberal stereotypes as per Hollywood, but then aren’t afraid to knock them down a few pegs.

Still leans more liberal to be sure, but is also surprisingly ‘fair & balanced’.

And the obvious is totally lost on the libs who write this.

Blacks are so dumb, so incapable and so stupid that ONLY a white person can save them.

We may quit watching that one, too, depending on whether or not we get more lectures on homosexuality. We turned off one not long ago to watch something else, because of one such lecture. If it’s going to be a soapbox for gay “rights”, we’re outta there.

This might be a good thread to catalog the legions of other Hollywood character cliches. I’ll start:

Incompetent Dad — bungling oaf who’s lucky he can mow the lawn without cutting off a toe. Dangerous in the kitchen and pathetic in the bedroom. Without his wife and kids doing his thinking for him, he’d drown taking a shower.

Superwoman — Look! Up in the boardroom! It’s a bird ... It’s a plane! No, it’s Superwoman. Faster than a speeding eight-year-old, more powerful than an oil-company lobbyist, able to leap patriarchal boundaries at a single bound ... Combination of supermodel, gourmet chef, pole dancer, union organizer, calculus tutor, and legal consultant, neither her mascara nor her principles ever run.

Cletus the Slack-jawed Conservative — denizen of Red State America, he has never attended an Ivy League college, doesn’t read Pablo Neruda, and prefers Schlitz to chablis. Drives a pickup (usually into things), kills furry woodland creatures, and resolves every conflict by either hitting someone or abusing a victim group.

Simon Lagree Capitalist — the Monopoly moneybags guy who lights his country-club stogies with C-notes he got selling Tiny Tim’s crutch for firewood.

Others?

Annieokie, it was bad even before that point. That was just when we couldn’t take it any more. Leftist claptrap is a very good way to describe all of the show that we saw. It was one cliche after the other, compounded by lack of logic and really, really bad writing.

I watched the first 25 minutes or so of the first show to see what it was like and I expected a liberal bias.

I thought the show initially was going “okay” then Kathy Bates’ started a rant about Limbaugh, the right and Republicans...

I turned the channel at that point.

Needless to say I won’t waste another 25 minutes on that show.

As I say....they set them up then knock them down.

They have her brother as a homosexual having “partner” issues.

They, at first, go the easy liberal route and just make it seem as this is a “normal” lifestyle.

You then find out that the brother is lying at that it is HIS promiscuity (and inability to stop) that is causing the problem.

And Gary Cole’s gun & Sarah Palin loving ballistics expert was such a breath of fresh air.

Thanks for the review, let me know what I did not miss, lol, and saved me from the curiosity of catching the next show.

It still must really mean they KNOW this show will not survive and have to get everything in at one time, as most people are just curious and try to catch the first of any show.
