Military Rolls Out Plan to Repeal Gay Ban

Pentagon leaders preparing for a new culture of gays serving openly in the military are serving notice that discrimination will not be tolerated.

Defense Secretary Robert Gates also directed his policy staff in a memorandum to move ahead carefully, but expeditiously, to end the 17-year-old "don't ask, don't tell" policy instituted during the Clinton administration.

Officials said they will complete implementation plans for the new policy by next Friday and will commence training in February.

I believe, but could be mistaken, that the UCMJ must be changed by legislation. Not sure whether the DADT repeal addressed that.

I personally know of cheating going on in my unit (battalion commander with his XO's wife and various female DA/NAF civilians) and others back in the late 70s/early 80s that got no UCMJ attention. I'd say it has to be pretty egregious and flagrant to result in any action. Of course, it doesn't hurt that the commander was a ringknocker.

Gates and too many generals are complete zip wads on this issue. They are only too happy to show how liberal they are.

The way to fight this among the lower ranks is to agitate for freedom of speech to be preserved and not corralled by PC anti-bullying/anti-fag sexual harassment nonsense.

The fact that homosexuals have a much higher incidence of a great variety of health problems also needs to be used to the max.

Under the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) the Federal Government CANNOT recognize gay relationships as marriage. How are gays going to get there significant other enrolled in Deers,ID card etc since you either need to be married or a dependent minor (and from experience I can tell you that the paper work is analyzed)?

I’m sick of cowards on the right when it comes to those who are homosexuals and their agenda.

I know of 5 , 3 of which are in Afghanistan right now who will not be joining the military or leaving it now.

To think that we are now saying to fighting men that they have to share bunks, sleeping bags, showers and have to now put up with men holding hands and kissing on base is truly the most disgusting thing this admin has done.
