Clarice's Pieces: She Wouldn't Harm a Fly
The American Thinker ^ | January 30, 2011 | Clarice Feldman

Posted on 01/30/2011 4:13:07 AM PST by Scanian

Frances Fox Piven is a sociology professor who for four decades has advocated violent social upheaval as a means of effecting the radical change she believes in. Her notion of appropriate change is quite obviously the displacement of the productive class and elected public leaders in favor of people like -- ahem -- herself.

This week, Glenn Beck called Piven out on her advocacy of violence. In response, the New York Times, a group that has amusingly chosen to call itself the Center for Constitutional Rights, and the American Sociological Association have attacked Beck for daring to take her at her word. Now, with Piven exposed to a broader audience than usual as a firebrand who holds views dangerous to democratic life, her friends have dolled her up in widow's weeds (her equally radical husband, Richard Cloward, died in 2001) and noted her age (78) to distract us from her work.

They want us to think, as did Psycho's Norman Bates channeling his long-dead mother, that "[t]hey'll see and they'll know and they'll say, 'Why she wouldn't even harm a fly.'"

Stanley Kurtz at NRO; Ann Althouse, a law professor at the University of Wisconsin who has her own blog site; and the Wall Street Journal's James Taranto have taken the lead in this fight to expose Piven and her defenders.

In my opinion, they clearly have the better of it.

Love this writer’s clever linking of Norman Bates’ mother to Francis “the fox!?” Piven.

The attitudes and ideas of the Cloward/Piven’s today betray a great contemptous blindness for God fearing and Law respecting Americans. Getting the violence they desire would become their own nightmare. I will put up with general lawlessness and destruction and violence and living in fear when hell freezes over.

She’s part of the usual gang of commie cowards: she’ll incite others to commit violence in the streets while she hides in the basement drinking absinthe and reading Marx. Then when the dust clears she’ll goosestep out and expect the crowds to adore her.

This is to me another example of the fatal flaw in a constitutional form of government, there is no provision for removing evil from our socity.

When we have reached the time when everything is a lie or a truth twisted beyond reconition then, but we have to suffer this drivel if you leave you home or reach out to the outside world via TV, internet etc.

I was taught as a child that you could always trust a Cop and if you were in trouble you could go to one. Now Lawyers tell you when dealing with a cop either lie or say nothing.

For those of you that forget, in a Christian socity lying is a sin for it is one of Gods commandments. Or at least it used to be.

There is. It is called sedition.

From Wikipedia: Sedition

In law, sedition is overt conduct, such as speech and organization, that is deemed by the legal authority to tend toward insurrection against the established order. Sedition often includes subversion of a constitution and incitement of discontent (or resistance) to lawful authority. Sedition may include any commotion, though not aimed at direct and open violence against the laws. Seditious words in writing are seditious libel. A seditionist is one who engages in or promotes the interests of sedition.

From Merriam Webster Dictionary

Sedition : incitement of resistance to or insurrection against lawful authority

I have often wondered why we don't prosecute the obvious examples of sedition from people like Soros, Piven, Ayers, etc.

I wonder what Richard Cloward was like.

Probably wore an old fishing hat and whittled. While Franny knitted.

Lefties are so good at fooling the foolish.

“When we have reached the time when everything is a lie or a truth twisted”.....I seems like Every Story written or aired by the Lamestream Media these days must have the “Obama/Soros political machine” stamp of approval.

You are absolutely correct.

“Intellectuals” are always among the first targets in any “revolution.”

We think “intellectuals”...the revolutionists think “complainers and troublemakers-—who needs them?”

Interesting...a child of the ‘50’s, I was taught not to trust cops OR lawyers. In fact, Dear ol’ Dad used a policeman to scare me sometimes when I was naughty. And the dummy played along. Made him feel important to be scaring a 7 year-old, I guess.

I’m still wary of them but I fear lawyers more. Too many years in the business world as well as a couple in law school.

And that my friend is the flaw. The legal system is infested with the very people I was talking about. Trial Lawyers vote & donate over 95% Democrat. Lawyers donate more money to Democrats than every other PAC combined. Do I really have to say anything more?

"Lawyers donate more money to Democrats than every other PAC combined."

Leftist thinking lawyers have to get their money biting someone like all other predators. But unlike a wolf, they will bleed their victim..but only so far. They will let the victim live..only to rip a chunk of skin to devourer leaving a gaping wound.

And here..we see the outline of the Democrat economic policy for America....

Providing we use it, our Constitutional system is self-correcting. Knowledge is the key and the Constitutional provision starts with Freedom of Speech.

We have let ourselves down by letting journalism and education be overrun by the philosophical tyranny of the progressives and we are reaping what they have sown.

However, like with some of the article's commenters, until Beck talked about them I had never heard of Piven and her husband nor their work.

But now I have and so have millions of others. The curse of interesting times be upon us.

“that terrible, terrible man Glenn Beck”

Land sakes, Frances! You better not go out on the streets alone. That Glenn Beck is loose out there somewhere! Oh, my. And -— and-—the sky is falling, too!

Aunt Franny sure does play the role, don’t she?

She probably pulls her gray hair back into a bun and carries her knitting with her when she talks like that.

She wouldn’t harm a fly, but she’ll use the power of her words to influence others to do it for her.

"I’m still wary of them but I fear lawyers more. Too many years in the business world as well as a couple in law school."

Business has to develop trust with their customers (prey) to get their life-blood fix...lawyers and/or government drones just take it if the can.

Now lets see..our healthcare (life) in the hands of competing insurance companies (business) or a bunch of government bureaucrats ( socialist lawyers)?

Long term prediction if we continue on our current path.....the humans wolves will forget the color or sex of their victims once they control the entire farm.

Piven is a useful idiot for the wolves waiting in the wings. She and her kind will be one of the first to go if her "friends" get their way.

I wish no more harm to Pivvy than she wishes on anyone else.

So telling that she would take that as a death knell.
