“Yet posting the person’s name or the context in which you heard that a majority of the church’s members voted for Obama will get you in trouble?”

Yes. It was a private conversation and my superior was there.

+++++++++++++++++

“What kind of trouble, pray tell?”

Maybe fired. I can’t take that chance, as insignificant as it might be - I have a family.

++++++++++++++++

“Maybe you should think about retracting your claim. You’re posting hearsay and innuendo. Period.”

I will not retract ONE THING. I HEARD what I HEARD!

Thanks for that.

I would love to hear more about her time at Rev Wright`s Church! Also I would love to hear how she thinks Jesus is OK with infanticide/homosexuality? Maybe she could provide some Scriptures for us.

Also why in their private giving they never gave 1 red cent to a single Christian organization. I would also ask why she has no desire to see the Gospel preached to every creature.

And my last question to her might be this....Why does your husband appoint anti Christian Judges to the Supreme Court, and do you also support his judges.

I don’t defend what Andy Stanley is doing in this situation, but I have no problem with him praying publically for a leader. This is Biblical.

I do have a problem with is the Obamas speaking in his church, both for political and spiritual reasons.

I believe the reasons the Obama’s picked this church is that they are the 4th largest church in the country and the event will be televised on the government web site. This will be a huge “notch” in the belt of Obama agenda.

Childhood obesity should take a back seat to starvation, bloated bellies and the millions of people needing cheap meds that prevent blindness, leprosy etc.

Fold the UN and give the money to Samaritans Purse or World Vision, they will do far more good.

If they are indeed Christian at this Church, they should not allow Michelle Obama to leave the Church before she gets a Bible lesson that includes God`s stand on Abortion, homosexuality and a bunch of other things.

I have watched this church’s services a number of times online and I believe you are correct. I kept waiting for them to talk about beliefs that I grew up with. When I questioned my grandchildren who attend this church I’m told that my religion is the “old” type and that this is the new...updated version that the young like. No wonder they like it...nothing they do comes under the category of being “wrong”....it’s all about feeling good...that touchy, feely type of “let’s all get along”.......so wasn’t too surprised to hear that Michelle Obama was coming to speak...frankly if I were a young parent I’d be insulted that I had to be lectured to on what my kids should be eating.

“We should hire three or four [Christian] ministers, preferably with social-service backgrounds, and with engaging personalities. The most successful educational approach to the [Christian] is through a religious appeal. We don't want the word to go out that we want to exterminate the [Christian] population and the [Christian]minister is the man who can straighten out that idea if it ever occurs to any of their more rebellious members.”

Absolutely!!! You and I and Franklin Graham are well aware that Barry and Mich are not Christian. This is by no means judging, it is just that the overwhelming evidence absolutely confirms that they are NOT Christian.

All you have to look at is who Barry appointed to the Supreme Court. The evidence was already overwhelming prior to that.

I can find scripture that says we should have nothing to do with people like that. The scripture I do not have at hand but it goes like this...I paraphrase.

If a person in the Church does something that is really out of line, you are to confront this person, after that you tell others, and finally the elders of the Church confront him. After that if he still resists you have nothing more to do with them.

Jesus Loved Children above all others,when a person claims to be Christian and openly supports infanticide, they can not be allowed to remain according to this New Testament Scripture.

A lot of Churches across the land are only Christian imposter's

Yeah, and Andy Stanley also has a sermon online where he insinuates we should give the so-called prophet muhammed a pass on all the evil things he did when he was alive, because we should take in to account that that is what people were doing during that time in history...raiding, pillaging, raping, stealing, etc. That somehow, because people were doing those things that we shouldn't hold a prophet of God to higher standards. What a bunch of baloney!

You have stated as fact:

"Nope. They had a majority of their members vote for Obama."

"I can’t say who told me, but the person would FOR SURE know."

"They might not have exact numbers, but they can know which way the church is leaning."

"I am relating this because I know it to be true and it partially explains why they would sponsor Michelle."

"Suite yourself. It’s 100% true.

"I will not retract ONE THING. I HEARD what I HEARD!"

---------------------------------------------------

As I have been telling you for several days, you are posting hearsay and innuendo.

Since you would not listen to reason, I contacted the church with the following message:

I post frequently at the Free Republic website, where members discuss politics from a conservative perspective. Your church has been in the news there recently regarding the event with First Lady Michelle Obama, and one of the posters there has been claiming that he has first-hand information "from someone in a position to know" at your church that a majority of your church's members voted for President Obama in the last election. Of course I don't believe the person has this "inside information" and have told him that there is no way for a church to gather that kind of information from its members.

Would someone with the authority to address this issue please send me a comment so I may settle this difference of opinion? It is such an odd claim and the poster is so insistent that the only way to either refute or verify his claim is to go directly to an attributable source.

May The Lord richly bless your work.

------------------------------------------------

I received the following reply from Cynda Douglas at North Point Ministries:

THAT is totally false information. We have no way of knowing how people voted and we don't want to know. We have never spoken in political tones, and never will. We strategically stay neutral and focused on our Mission, "To Lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ."

Anyone that says that is wrong and doesn't even know us.

Thanks for checking the facts.

-----------------------------------

I told you the following:

"No one at that church can tell you who the majority of its members voted for in the last presidential election. Anyone who claims to be able to do that is lying...No person at any church, including the pastor or any staff member, would know how the members of a church voted in an election. The notion is absurd."

---------------------------------------------------------

The next time you start making claims I suggest you have your ducks in a row. You have spread a falsehood ("They had a majority of their members vote for Obama") after being warned repeatedly that you were doing so. You are refuted.

Now stop repeating the lie.

While it has been a while, I have helped organize and served as the media spokesman for two FReeps in the Atlanta area, one of Cynthia McKinney, and one of Hillary. While I don’t have much use for Michelle, I just can’t come up with a big enough give-a-damn to put much effort into a FReep of this. Am willing to be convinced I should, but I just don’t see it.

"Now stop repeating the lie."

Let me start by saying that I WILL NOT STOP affirming what I know to be true.

Cynda Douglas, in her role as a "goodwill ambasador" (googled her) may not be privy to all the information that the church has.

I heard what I heard what I heard and I will affirm it till the day I die.

"You have spread a falsehood ("They had a majority of their members vote for Obama") after being warned repeatedly that you were doing so. You are refuted."

I have repeated accurately what I heard. I even double-checked with another person today who was there to confirm that I had not misheard. They, without my prompting, confirmed the statement, (finding it especially enlightening with regards to Michelle's visit tomorrow)

As I have said before - I have no axe to grind with North Point. And my 9+ years of Free Republic are a written record that I am not a person who spreads false and malicious information. If you think you are going to win some sort of grudge match with me, friend, you are going to lose because I cannot deny hearing what I heard.

The issue is not, and it has never been, that you may have heard something...that's the very definition of hearsay...but the issue has always been that you refuse to source your information, so no one can verify its accuracy. For thinking individuals this is the most red of all flags, yet you not only insist that you heard this information, you have repeatedly insisted that it is true without providing any evidence at all. No one should believe you.

You have stated repeatedly that a majority of this church's members voted for Obama. This is ludicrous and preposterous, as it is impossible to know.

I have presented evidence refuting your claim from a real person responding in her capacity for the church. You have presented nothing.

You cannot know what you claim to know.

“The issue is not, and it has never been, that you may have heard something.”

That has been the issue from the very beginning.

++++++++++++++++++++++

“but the issue has always been that you refuse to source your information, so no one can verify its accuracy.”

I have made it clear from the very start (from my second post - iirc) that I could not do that. I have given you a concrete reason why I can’t do that.

++++++++++++++++++++++

“You have stated repeatedly that a majority of this church’s members voted for Obama. This is ludicrous and preposterous, as it is impossible to know.”

I have stated repeatedly that I was TOLD that. And I WAS told that. And apparently it is not impossible to know, elsewise the source would have to be lying (which I find extremely unlikely.)

Is it impossible, ludicrous and preposterous that Andy would give an invocation at the Obama Inauguration, for an avowed, pro-abortion, socialist zealot??????

Is it impossible, ludicrous and preposterous that North Point would host an event for the big-spending, America-hating, race-baiting queen of corruption, Michelle Obama??????

Impossible????

Answer me that!!!

++++++++++++++++++++++

“I have presented evidence refuting your claim from a real person responding in her capacity for the church. You have presented nothing.”

Congratulations! You win... nothing. This is not a contest. I am relating what I know occurred. The person you quoted was not there and therefore she can not know what was said.

++++++++++++++++++++++

“You cannot know what you claim to know.”

I DO know it. I know what was said and have reported it accurately. Period!

Chunga and PetroniusMaximus, in the interest of moving along, can we leave it at... PM heard “most of North Point voted democratic in 2008” in a meeting and wanted to helpfully present that info here, minus source, as perhaps a reason why Obama has been permitted use our church. Chunga, from what you know of voting privacy, the church, and from speaking to Cynda, found the info to be wrong.

Generally speaking, publicly known voting results could explain an educated guess on North Point voters. If one looked at just Fulton County, the county in which NPCC is located, then the statement PM heard would be spot on as results show 67% voted Democrat and 32% voted Republican. If however, results from neighboring counties (Cherokee, Forsyth, Cobb, Dekalb, Gwinnett) were reviewed, it would seem likely the congregation would be soundly and largely Republican, especially if you also separated South Fulton from North Fulton, as North Fulton would like vote similar to the regions nearby. Looking at the results from all counties would explain why so many conservatives on here say they find like-minded conservatives in their programs at NPCC and would find a statement purporting an Obama majority at church to be insensible.

In my own limited experience at NPCC, politics does not come up. Which brings me to my next response to the topic originator, Reagan69.

welcome to Free Republic.

do you plan to stick around or did you just sign up for this topic?

I have a daughter living in this area, I have attended this group of churches and I will be watching tomorrow to be sure Ms. Obama DOES NOT become political as the church sent me a form letter stating she would not...so she best watch her P's and Q's...she is not one of my favorite people, the White House made the request to use this church..

hope other will be watching also...

“The issue is not, and it has never been, that you may have heard something.”

"That has been the issue from the very beginning."

It has not. The issue from the very beginning has been this:

In a response to justsaynomore, in which he posted "that would be a pretty conservative congregation, I don’t think this is going to go over well,” you replied, and I quote,

"Nope. They had a majority of their members vote for Obama."

NOT "I was told they had a majority of their voters vote for Obama."

You have stated repeatedly that you know that the statement you have made is true. This is something no member of any church can know for certain. You have been shown correspondence from a church representative that they do not have access this information at North Point, and you refuse to source your claim in order refute this correspondence. I don't care what you've been told...you have reached an erroneous conclusion. You are wrong. You are posting hearsay. I don't care how many times you type "I know what I heard," you do not know that the majority of the members of this church voted for Obama and neither does anyone else.

To continue to claim that you know this for a fact is to lie. You should stop now.

Helpfully? This would be an indictment of the church. It isn't my church, but move along? No dice! I'm not interested in moving along. Have a nice Wednesday.
