Top Photo: Shanghai in 1990.

Bottom Photo: Shanghai in 2010.

Just an interesting photo of where American wealth has gone to fund the huge building boom in China. Shanghai is the most populous city in China.

All of Wal-Marts employees in China must belong to a Communist Union. So how do you like them apples?

If any US manufacturers are still in China when it decides to grab Taiwan back.... And any Americans get killed or it turns
into a war... then those manufacturers better run for their lives because there ARE going to be trials.

"Did you see how they performed in the opening ceremonies in Beijing? Perfection."

Indeed... That was one of the most intimidating demonstrations of the combination of disciplined people and technical can-do I've seen since Armstrong walked on the moon.

Of course, I did note that their "Chinese copy" of Windows did display a BSOD up on one of the flat screens at the top of the stadium... '-)

But when all those guys popped up out of those boxes, China poked a finger right in our eye, and said, "Just think what our disciplined gazillion-man army can do!"

Impressive -- even if they bamboozled everyone with the dubbed-in little girl singer (and saw absolutely nothing wrong with doing so...).

~~~~~~~~~
The combination of raw power and amorality is always to be regarded with utmost caution.
America’s communists hate Wal-Mart.
Wal-Mart serves a need and the marketplace has made its choice. And, as a stockholder, they have done what is the moral and fiduciary imperative of any business: deliver value to the investors.
Blame Wal-Mart? Not me!
So who's to blame? The twin evils of unionism and multiculturalism. Period, paragraph, chapter and book.
LOL...good picture - now the rest of the story.
Note the license plate - its in TAIWAN...not the PRC.
She is known as a "Bin Lang Babe"...a salesgirl who dresses very skimpy, some MUCH more than that one, to attract customers to buy her 'bin lang' aka betel nut chewing product.
Pretty common site on Taiwan...very common in some areas.
t is estimated that bin lang sales, which are somehow untaxed, are in excess of USD 3 billion per year on the island. It leaves horrible red stains as the chewers spit out the gook from their mouth...just about everywhere. Much much worse than chewing tobacco.
Hmmm. Flames and a seam between concrete blocks. I'm sure this means something, but that something eludes me.
Raffles, the original and most famous is in Singapore. And yes, its been completely, except for the bar area - merely restored, remodeled and modernized. I was there a few months back for 2 nights.
“The statement assumes that US$ were used to fund the construction, and fails to consider there is more to the worldthan America. The statement is without factual basis and represents tunnel vision”
You can go hate America someplace else. We were their leading trade partner to the tune of 20%. I’d say that lets us say we built China.
US 20.0%, Hong Kong 12.0%, Japan 8.3%, South Korea 4.6%, Germany 4.3% (2009)
I shop at Wal-Mart for the prices
Ironic, don’t you think?
What's ironic Howard, is I see Communist China as an enemy, which they are, yet you're more concerned with their prices and some American union hack.
I go out of my way to avoid Communist Chinese products, yet you and others here contribute as much as possible to Communist China.
Yes, it's *very* ironic Howard.
Very interesting.
Btw, what’s the active ingredient in the betel nut stuff — is it nicotine or some other stimulant? Have you ever tried it?
Horse crap...Sheep to slaughter....Communist China is America's enemy, and your doing your best to support an entity that aids and abets Americas enemy...
Profit over principle....Profits regardless of consequences.
Profit over principle....Profits regardless of consequences.
The fundamental purpose of a business is to profit. If an enterprise fails to produce a profit, nothing else matters. "The chief business of the American people is business." — Calvin Coolidge
Here's a simple, broad-brush outline of how to restore American business to greatness:
If all five of those point came to fruition, it would again be Morning in America. And I'll hasten to add, Wal-Mart would be even more profitable...and that would put more $$$ in my pocket as a proud stockholder of this corporation, a corporation despised by leftists, environwhackos, facists and others opposed to Capitalism.
The fundamental purpose of a business is bla bla bla...
I expected this pap from someone that knowingly and intentionally aids and abets Americas enemy...
I outlined my views in a calm, non-inflammatory, rational manner without resorting to any form of argumentum ad hominem realizing fellow FReepers are worthy of respect since we all support Constitutional Conservatism.
So, I respectfully ask, which of the five broad points that I outlined do you find flawed? And what specific measures would you propose to restore America to economic greatness?
Wal-Mart is a major donor to the National council de La Raza.
Lets cut to the chase slick.
The entity you clearly support and profit from have greatly aided and abetted Communist China.
You deny Communist China is America's enemy?
Yes or no?
Slick?
When you are a tad more rational, perhaps we'll have a mature, adult discussion. Otherwise, have a most pleasant good evening.
