As it does for Reagan, the reality of history crushes the left's intentions to portray Margaret Thatcher as incompetent or looney.

She is a giant of the last century, and it's almost impossible to make a movie that can minimize that.

Maybe they'll portray her as a bit bitchy or something, but who cares.

And of course Streep isn't worthy of playing Thatcher. All they need to do is find an actress with a fifty year political resume that includes being one of the three pillars that defeated Communism's march and can also act. That should be easy.

“Like movies about Nixon, Reagan, etc... the writers/directors will write-in strange personality traits and over-simplify or distort Thatcher’s reasoning behind major policy decisions.”

#####

Indeed they will. One of the Left’s favorite “biographies” of Ronald Reagan was some sort of suppositional fictional fantasy on the part of the author. God forbid, letting the facts convey the irrefutable greatness of Reagan.

Too, secular Hollywood had to portray St. Joan of Arc as some sort of lunatic, rather than divinely aided and inspired, in their latest distortion of that particular historical era.

Movie ping. What is your hunch on the writers’ portrayal of Lady Thatcher? Will it be accurate, and if so, will Streep do it justice? Obviously, she can but will her heart be in it?

Figures, it will be like all the other trash coming out of Hollywood these days.

No wonder movie going is at it's lowest point in history. They have demoralized the population to near collapse. All they can sell these days is outright moral decrepitude.

This will be a smear job. Anything Hollywood does is filled with hate. The left is filled people who hate Thatcher. Sadly FR is filled with a few celeb loving morons.

Big deal. You have no idea how much the left in the loathes Thatcher. Streep was okay in Deer Hunter mainly because her love interest was a young Christopher Walken was so awesome and also handsome. He carried her in every scene. She mumbles all the time and looks flustered.

I read awhile ago that it was scripted to be a hit piece.

The fact that she LOOKS so much like Lady Thatcher should not deceive any as to how she will PORTRAY the Iron Lady. Streep is FAR LEFT, and there is NO reason to believe Hollywood will treat Maggie Thatcher in any way other than than how they’ve treated every other Conservative Icon — as either a crazy lunatic, a bumbling idiot, or an evil mastermind.

NOT A CHANCE I watch this one.

Actually, I’m quite well versed in how the left hates Thatcher as I noted in my first comment about “depends on the script.”

If you haven’t seen a Streep movie since Deer Hunter then perhaps you really haven’t seen her work.

Look, if people hate her for her politics and don’t want to watch her movies, then fine. But being a flaming leftist doesn’t mean she can’t act.

‘sall I’m sayin’...

Streep is an excellent actress. First movies I recall seeing her in were "Deer Hunter' & 'The French Lieutenants Women' then she went thru a series of movies where she always had an accent. She always had the ability to make whatever role she was playing very believable.

Streep makes a living pretending to be things she’s not.

Maybe in this movie she can pretend to be a great woman leader.

Streep as Margaret Thatcher (vanity)

I pray that Streep does some homework and attempts to replicate the
real Lady Thatcher.
Including Thatcher’s getting a chemistry degree during WWII as part
of the war effort, well before she became politically active.
I often shock (even fellow chemists/biochemists) when I say she’s my
favorite chemist.

Whoever is directing this effort, if they have a brain, should make
Streep watch about 10 hours of the “Prime Minister Questions” from
C-Span.
Lady Thatcher either overcame or held her own with the bad boys of
the Parliament in rapid-fire give and take.
Very impressive.

(And I’m impressed with PM David Cameron in the same forum.
I’m sad we can’t vote him in as President in 2012.)
