Several sources familiar with the ongoing investigation tell WTOP fire and police investigators believe the radiator in Turton's 2008 BMW X5 was punctured when it rolled into a workbench. The halogen headlights, which emit a bluish light and illuminate the road better than conventional headlights, stayed on after the radiator was punctured.

The autopsy into Jan. 10 death of Turton, a lobbyist for Progressive Energy and wife of a senior aide to President Barack Obama, is still pending, but investigators believe she was stricken and unconscious before the fire ignited

'Stricken and unconscious' from what? That does not make sense.

Hey, I’m with you entirely. I thought it was funny the report said that 240 was far above 212 (the boiling point of water). Did 28 degrees make all the difference? So if you own one of these cars, does that put everyone at risk of blowing up if they rearend someone at 1 MPH? Sure says alot for that BMW quality engineering, doesn’t it?

Reminds me of a joke I heard when they awarded the US BMW plant to South Carolina. The main rason was they didn’t have to change the logo. BMW=Bubba Makes Wheels

If a halogen lamp meeting radiator fluid can render a driver ‘stricken and unconscious’ followed by an intense fire, how many of those would we witness on an ordinary traffic day?

They can do better than that, I would hope.

If she was going out to catch a flight, how the heck do you damage the radiator while backing up?

That's the million dollar question. Sounds like sabotage.

You know, the funny thing is, back in the day you could blame almost any garage fire on the ubiquitous gasoline can or lawnmower fuel tank. But, nowadays, nobody has gas cans or lawnmowers in their garages anymore. The lawn service takes care of all of that. As as far as paint thinners and laquers are concerned, the painter takes care of all that.

It is completely plausible that there were no flammables in that garage at all, except for the gasoline in the vahicle’s tank. Clearly the vehicle was not damaged enough to rupture the gas tank. So the only thing left to do is to blame the fire of burning antifreeze...

Investigators have been probing the death of Ashley Turton, a former chief of staff to Rep. Rosa DeLauro, D-Conn.

Over and above the strange circumstances regarding her death, this tells a lot about political and other leanings. For example, I wouldn’t “work” for or wish to be associated with Rosa for oh, lets say 10 million.

It’s been said that xenon lights are standard on the model of car she was driving.

“investigators believe the radiator in Turton’s 2008 BMW X5 was punctured when it rolled into a workbench”

How does a car just roll into a workbench with someone inside and they don’t stop the car or get out after it’s smashed up and on fire? Unless she was a total moron, she had to have been at least unconscious to just sit in the car while it rolled into a workbench starting a fire.

Something smells really bad.

Never leave your samurai sword clamped in a vice pointing out away from the bench. How many more senseless flaming anti-freeze deaths must this nation endure before people start taking shop safety seriously?

I raising the bullshit flag on this one....to the TOP of the flag pole. I'd like to see the data on how many car fires are started in collisions where antifreeze was the ignition point.

The point stands though. We would be having these fires all over the place.

BTW: has it been determined whether or not her air bag deployed? (They are in looking glass land. Air bags will deploy if the driver sneezes)

A dead progressive. Thousands kill each other every year in the cities.

Why the concern about one more?
