Feds Investigate Illegals Living in Walls of Hospital Construction Site

Federal and state agents are investigating the possibility that illegal immigrant workers have been living in the walls of a new medical center in Florida, MyFoxOrlando reported Wednesday.

Authorities combed the construction site of the new multimillion dollar VA Medical center in Lake Nona’s Medical City with thermal imaging devices in the second raid within a 24-hour period.

"We didn't see anything," worker Anthony Willis told MyFoxOrlando, "just told us to come out of our work areas and have our IDs ready."

After the warning, law enforcement officers descended on the site.

"All of a sudden cops come around with the four-wheelers," Shon Trusdale, a steelworker, said. "Next thing you know, a helicopter is up here and guards at the gates."

The writer quotes his source:
"King Abdullah talked with Obama about the situation in Egypt over the phone yesterday. Obama and the King got into a heated debate about their opinions of what Hosni Mubarak should do."
Laughable Obamaganda! Like Obama is not owned.

Then why weren’t their butts down there filling out an application? Or maybe they did go down there but on the application they put they would only work for union wages of $37 an hour instead of the $15 the others including the illegals work for. Herein lies the problem. Unions have so overinflated wages to the point of ridiculous that employers have no choice. I mean, come on guys, you have a guy with a high school diploma who has some carpenter/construction skills and you think he deserves $30 an hour?

But they are perfectly happy to sit home and draw unemployment for three plus years.

If they are working on a Federal project, they are supposed to be paid union scale which is very good money. I am sure that there are a lot of unemployed Americans that would take these jobs. If the contractor is employing illegals and not paying scale wages, they should be prosecuted.

“Judging by your post...you seem a little too obsessed with unions....and hiring Illegals instead of Americans”

Yea, I figured that I came across that way. I’ve run smaller projects out here in Texas and it’s really tough to find someone whose first language is English, yet still has the skills (and the common sense) to do a half-decent job, yet still not have to pay them $50 plus per hour.

My point is that the labor market (at least out here) is so distorted by illegals that its going to take some time before Americans (particularly the ones coming out of high school these days) starting carrying their share of the physical labor - it just seems to be beneath them, when they can all be going to college to learn linguistics, or getting a job in video game design.

Living??? The article is all about them working construction jobs there, nothing about the illegals' abode. Is this a new code word, a liberal signal on how shamnesty will be promoted: the illegals must work to live?

Who picked the cotton after 1865?

As much as I can’t stand illegals (and I can’t), who’s going to replace them? Either a bunch of spoiled-rotten union Socialists or high school kids (LOL).

Unemployment is ridiculously high.

How about real American citizens?

It sounds like you're trying to justify keeping them here or taking no action against them.

Who picked the cotton after 1865?

The Freesoil party (1848 to 1852) was a transitional party consisting of anti slavery Whigs and Democrats that led to the formation of the Republican party. They were very much the tea party of the day and they had an answer to your question.

They argued that free men on free soil comprised a morally and economically superior system to slavery. They opposed slavery in the new territories and sometimes worked to remove existing laws that discriminated against freed African Americans in states such as Ohio.

Thier party motto says it all even for today.

'Free Soil, Free Speech, Free Labor and Free Men,'

“Who picked the cotton after 1865?”

The same ones that picked it before 1865, under the same conditions.

That won’t happen in this case, as the people that “know how to pick the cotton” will leave for home and the Nintendo players, bless their little hearts, would not know which way to point a nail gun.

Naa, you can sift through my prior postings, I WANT THEM OUT!! I’m just sympathizing with the people who actually try to get stuff built.

...and face it, just about everyone one this site, and certainly everyone who lives in a dwelling built in the past 20 years, knows who built it, and their status.

Union scale wages should be outlawed after we deport the illegals. I don’t see much of a difference in quality between the slow as fudge unionized fatsos we have here or the illegals who don’t know Sheetrock from shuttlecock.
