Nice timing after yesterdays announcement that Saudi Arabia has about 40% less reserves than people thought they did.

We tend to forget an old adage:

“Necessity is the mother of invention.”

There’s another aspect; a lot can be done if the price is right.

And because it helps the US domestic energy business and involves fracking, we can be reasonably well assured that Obama, his EPA and Interior Department will all move to try to make darn sure that this never comes to pass. It’s not “green energy”, like unicorn breath and similar Obama-approved forms.

They will wait until a large amount of capital is sunk first.

“hydraulic fracturing has been used for over 60 years in more than one million wells.” (from Wikipedia)

I guess if the reporter has never heard of something before, it must be ‘new’.

It uses hydraulic fracturing of formations; the econuts are already spreading lies about it, and have for several years.

There were several “concern trolls” on FreeRepublic, even spreading pseudo science crap.

It’s new, in that it’s much more adavanced and uses some sort of propant.

This same procedure has opened up gas fields in Israel. There is a Freeper who is actively involved, but I do not recall which one.

“We tend to forget an old adage:

“Necessity is the mother of invention.”

Was that ever true when Hitler during WWII made coal into gasoline for his Panzers as access to oil was blocked and South Africa during Apartheid did the same as no one wished to sell them oil.

Yep, those were necessary times to them.

Oil engineers are applying what critics say is an environmentally questionable method developed in recent years

It is not a recent method, fracking has been around for decades. This is just the global-warming types doing anything they can to try and block the development of this resource.

True, but that’s based on the type of extraction being used in Saudi Arabia now. What if Saudi Arabia starts to use the type of extraction mentioned in the article and/or uses pressurized gas/liquid detergent injection into wells? That could increase the Saudi reserves by 50% or more!

If it has been around for decades, why are they suddenly being able to increase production?????

Perhaps there is more to the technology than you are aware of????? Perhaps????
