I saw one of these, and an equivalent unit in the .50 range that can penetrate a grouted cinder block wall and release a shrapnel cloud.
History channel, or the Military channel has aired video of a single sniper popping off three men behind such a fortification with such a device. I do not know about confirmed kills, but the 3M splatter on the viewable wall behind the emplacement said much.
Not a pretty thing, but a necessary one.

I saw that show.........
Big splatter, but it was a re-enaction of the event so they may have been generous with the red paint.........

How long until the Bad Guys acquire them? it is inevitable that they will. Until then, and thereafter as well, let us hope our soldiers make maximum use of this weapon.

Wonder what the effective range is. Would be a great sniper weapon if the range was reasonably long. WOW!

A few bits. The reason they can get away with a 25mm round, is that they use an advanced explosive a lot more powerful than what they used to use in the 40mm grenade round. It is a machinable explosive used in nuclear weapons.
The XM-25 is best used in the offense, because it can quickly clear an entire defensive line, so the advancing soldiers can quickly take over a position. It has a maximum effective range 100m longer than the AK-47, and any retreat from it needs to be out of the line of sight.
For a unit equipped with one or more of these, it does need a complementary defensive weapon in case of a malfunction, to defeat an enemy charge. I would recommend a bush clearer like the AA-12 automatic shotgun, that is devastating at short ranges.

Soon coming to a local SWAT unit near you. Chances are it will have "Homeland Security" stenciled on the receiver.

Cost per round fired must be astronomical. Electronic fused rounds which receive a downloaded detonation time ain’t cheap. They are most likely not going to shelf life very well.

Yup. It's all well and good when the our good guys are using them on the bad guys. What worries me is when our bad guys start using them on
us.

Not likely considering the current estimated cost is $30,000 per weapon. The Taliban are still using recycled AK's and whatever else weapons they can get their hands on such as old bolt action Lee Enfields.
