The Next Black President?
The American Thinker ^ | February 15, 2011 | Jeannie DeAngelis

Posted on 02/15/2011 2:55:52 AM PST by Scanian

When Barack Obama was sworn in as President of the United States, even those who opposed his liberal policies secretly had a fleeting moment of patriotic pride. America had elected our first African-American president. Finally, our nation had overcome the injustices of the past and "the dawn of a new day" had arrived where most Americans were no longer judging or being judged based on skin color.

Regrettably, the feeling of national dignity was short lived. As it turned out, Barack Obama's goal was to get "others to think [more] highly" of Barack Obama than the nation whose citizens he was elected to lead.

What a shame. Truth is, the most unfortunate aspect of having Obama as America's first black president is that it is Obama who is America's first black president.

If only the first choice had been an outstanding man of color like Allen West or the spectacular Herman Cain. Both are patriotic individuals who love and recognize their country's greatness. Moreover, despite the reality of past injustices, unlike Barack Obama, Cain and West choose to dwell on the benefits of individual responsibility, unlimited opportunity, and patriotic allegiance to America.

One thing is for sure: No one could ever accuse the outspoken Herman Cain of disagreeing with Barry purely because of skin color. Cain is bold as a lion and unafraid to debate Obama on the merits of conservative philosophy. In his 2011 CPAC speech, Mr. Cain rightly identified the three liberal tactics of "shifting the subject, ignoring the facts, and name-calling," which Cain "bundles together with the acronym ‘SIN.'"

He WANTS to be, of course. He just isn’t polling very well.

He’d be great in a GOP cabinet-—we can use a realistic businessman like him. Private enterprise needs to be well-represented in the next administration and not just an obscenity like it is in the present regime.

The skin pigmentation color of whoever fixes the mess makes no difference.

It is that they fix it.

I remember Lewis Grizzard doing a great column about SAWB’s. My Daddy was so impressed, he made him a little badge of it that he wore around for a while.

I despise that term, “African American”, and I refuse to use it or Irish American, Arab American, Mexican American, etc., etc., on and on.

I am beginning to despise people who insist on using it as well. Defining our fellow countrymen and women this way does nothing but play into our enemies hands. They do not want to see any unity in our citizens as we have seen demonstrated in the past.

Barack Obama is either an African or an American, a man cannot be both.

FRiends please take notice; if you use a hyphenated term to refer to a fellow American, you can look forward to being flamed by me. for what that is worth.

Sorry, but Obama has been "all about race" even though he's mulatto who's not even as dark as my kids after a day in the sun.

America got spanked by a president who considers himself "black". That's going to stick in the minds of many voters, mostly democrat.

I think Obama's set back race relations and the "trust" that had been growing before he came into power and "acted stupidly".

He's blown the chance for a real black president at least for the next few cycles. I don't care how good Herman Cain is, the divide will be a lot to overcome in 2012 and then some.

... even those who opposed his liberal policies secretly had a fleeting moment of patriotic pride...

Complete and utter BS! I read Corsi's "The Obama Nation" and Freddoso's "The Case Against Barack Obama" well before the election and knew exactly what a disaster we were in for. I have not had a single racially tinged sense of "patriotic pride" about this cretin. In fact, quite the opposite. I am nothing but disgusted that the Democrats would select an American-hating communist with a obscured background in their primary and he would actually beat a true patriotic American.

As much as I detest McCain, it's impossible to deny that he sacrificed and served his country well.

Barack Obama will go down as America's biggest enemy and biggest traitor in history.

True, but if the Republicans keep screwing around with the same old same old "do as I say, not as I do" mentality like they are now BHO will be re-elected by a wide margin. His negatives are half what they were just two months ago and steadily falling. It's stunning, I know, but one thing I've learned over the last 30 years as a political observer is never misunderestimate the apathy of the American voter. Whether or not voters will remain fired up for the next election remains to be seen. Given the exceedingly short attention span of most voters at this stage of the game I seriously doubt the Republicans are going to field a strong enough candidate. My biggest fear is Mitt or the Huckster will get the nomination. If that happens it'll be BHO round II......

I remember Lewis Grizzard doing a great column about SAWB’s.

I think that term was coined by Andrew Young, but I remember that Grizzard column well. I had a hat with SAWB on it for a while.

Sorry, I'm the anecdotal one of "those" who felt we let America down by electing the Kenyan Klown.

Yes. Lewis was riffing off of Andy’s quip. Lewis was poking fun at the left’s move to identity politics in that day.

“I AM somebody!”

“I AM a SAWB”

LOL, yeah, I figured you would be. I am just really getting tired of citizens of this amazing country who feel the need to identify themselves as something other than an American citizen.

It’s kind of like just being an American isn’t good enough anymore.

On another subject, I used to know a guy who went by DoDahhh. Does the term “Booze Fighters” have any meaning for you?

As a native of Atlanta I really miss reading Lewis’ columns. He was the Mark Twain of our time.

Race, race, race,... Obama has single handedly set race relations back decades and poisoned the well for anyone of color or RACE seeking the office of the President, no matter who they are.

The color of a man's skin does not matter and no longer counts as a "get into the position free card".
