Maybe she should have thought of her kids before she put herself in harm’s way.

Does that rule apply to everyone or just women?

I certainly do not hope that means she’s going back to Egypt. If she is, then she is a fool!

To quote Monty Python: "No one expects the Spanish Inquisition." She was a reporter... it was a story. Usually, but not always, the press is left alone and treated as an observer.

I daresay the reporters believed that the Egyptians would want their story publicized, and they weren't endangered. Of course, in the Mideast, norms of behavior are quite different from in the West, so the risk was much higher.

Especially mothers.

Muslims are taught from birth that women are chattel and that any woman who doesn’t dress “modestly” is a whore and WANTS to be raped. When you go into a den of vipers you shouldn’t be surprised when they bite you.

I think there is a difference in some cases.

For example, a REPORTER who KNOWINGLY puts him/herself into a potential Infidel-slaughter or rape-circle is very much in the wrong.

A SOLDIER, police officer, fireman etc who puts him/herself in harms way probably IS thinking about his/her kids and the kids are likely a motivating factor.

Not entirely sure I can stomach the “she knew what she was getting into” or “she deserved it cuz” line of thought, however. I think she really DID buy into the bull from the Left and probably never saw that coming.

American reporters were being attacked before she was. Why on earth would she think she wouldn’t be?

She’s supposedly a “foreign correspondent”....shouldn’t she know the ways of backward mooslims??

"60 Minutes" correspondent Lara Logan was repeatedly sexually assaulted by thugs yelling, Jew! Jew!" as she covered the chaotic fall of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak in Cairo's main square Friday, CBS and sources said yesterday.

Especially mothers.

So mothers shouldn't put themselves in harm's way? For example, mothers shouldn't run for president?

I have two thoughts:
1. This is blown way out of proportion. As sensationalist media is prone to do (especially CBS) in making themselves into the story. Do you notice they keep talking about horrifying details that are being openly talked about, then not talking about them?
2. This woman is a real trooper and knows that not "getting back on the horse" could stay with her for a long time. Then again, she might be so obsessed with fame and the camera that nothing matters more than being on screen - not even her family.

Probably not too dissimilar from Jessica Lynch's ordeal, minus the firefight and captivity. Koranimals.

“Back with her children” translates to “single mother”. Should single mothers deliberately place themselves in dangerous situations, or do they have a greater obligation to their children? I believe her children should take priority over her career.

The media truly believed their own take on the Egypt situation - that this was another Berlin Wall type freedom celebration.

It was not - these people desire a muslim theocracy, and what Islam feels about westerners in no way compares with what Berliners were thinking back in 1991.

I hope the press has learned from this poor woman's experience, as well as that of other western reporters who were beaten.

I don't think she "deserved it" either; however, personal responsibility comes into play here. If she bought the "lefts bull", then the actions happening in Egypt (American correspodents being attacked prior) should have been warning enough.

Quite the trooper. As an imbed professional journalist in Iraq she latched on to a married soldier and wrecked his marriage.

Yes it takes two but this woman’s judgement is suspect, IMO.
