Half of All Republicans Are Birthers… According to Democrat Pollsters
David Horowitz's NewsReal Blog ^ | February 17, 2010 | Calvin Freiburger

In a bid to keep their meal ticket going, WorldNetDaily is pushing a new poll that allegedly reveals that “only 3 in 10 members of the GOP believe that Barack Obama was born in the United States”:

With the issue still disputed in a number of court cases and under review by nearly a dozen states considering laws that presidential candidates document their constitutional eligibility, the poll by Public Policy Polling found that only 28 percent of the Republicans surveyed believe Obama was born in the U.S. while 51 percent do not.

Another 21 percent say they are not sure.

"Any thought that the birther theory has been put to rest can be thrown out the window," Dean Debnam, the president of the Democratic-leaning polling firm, told Politico.

"That view is still widely held in Republican circles," he said. [Emphasis added.]

Granted, Hawaii Governor Neil Abercrombie’s quest to find Obama’s birth certificate once and for all ended in failure, and Obama has brought some distrust over his origins on himself—he has a record of misrepresenting details in his own biography for political gain. So it’s not completely surprising that a not-infinitesimal percentage of Republicans would have doubts. But half? I doubt it

More evidence that the Left loves the birth certificate issue as a weapon to use against conservatives.

I don't think we'll ever get to the bottom of the BC issue, but I think the democrats are making a serious mistake here - they're obviously expecting independents to rally to Obama's side as most did during the Clinton scandals.

The difference is Clinton remained popular with a majority & Obama hasn't. Crappy economies will do that to a leader.

People tend to want to believe the worst about those they don't particularly care for.

Absent evidence to the contrary, I always assume that PPP poll numbers are “cooked.” Just like the Daily Kos “polls” that even DK now admits were fraudulent.

i don’t know nor do i care where he was born. i just expect the document to be provided. what happens after that depends on what it says.

no one spends $2m keeping a $5 document from coming to light.

and last i checked, there is no severability clause to the Constitution. it’s all or nothing. and considering they won’t uphold article 1 section 2... which is easily demonstrated... then why should we adhere to amendment 16?

I don’t care if 0 was born at my local hospital down the street, he’s not a natural born citizen because his dad was a British subject from Kenya. What a joke on the US sheeple.

Agnostic is the only rational position. We really do not know where he was born. We really do not know if he is a citizen. Those who say they know, one way or the other, don’t.

“Birther”?

If by that you mean I’ve noticed that the guy is hiding his entire paper trail, his entire personal biography, and the press monkeys are hermetically incurious about it, fine. Call me whatever you want to.

I suppose, based on that, that if I notice that the guy who went into Obama’s passport files was shot dead, I might be a “passporter” too.

Press monkeys seem to be pretty uninterested in that one too.

I don’t consider myself a Birther, but I don’t understand why Obama keeps playing hide the ball on this issue. Just release the damn birth certificate or admit that it’s lost, and be done with it.

Well more than half of the Republicans believe he was not eligible, and a good amount of the rats know this as well, they do not care, we do

He who hides something has something to hide. We’ll get there, the truth always comes out.

Just show the BC. If he was born in Kenya he is not eligible. If he was born on the steps of the Capital building in DC he is still not eligible. Dada was not a US citizen. Mum was too young to confer citizenship. Bye bye Barry Soetoro.

I know I’m going to get flamed for posting this again but I truly believe it needs to be considered even if it sounds off the wall.

The more you understand the Left the more sense Obama’s behavior makes. It helps him to keep this issue alive to use as a weapon against conservatives. It does not benefit him in any substantive way to be honest.

Mum was too young to confer citizenship.

IIRC, she was 18. Why is that too young?

...because his dad was a British subject from Kenya.

Even this could be a lie. The putative president looks nothing like BHO. He looks more Indonesian than African to some and could actually be Lolo Soetoro's offspring.

My point is the man in the oval office is first and foremost a liar. I believe nothing he says. He must show the American citizenship his bonafides.
