DES MOINES, Iowa An Iowa high school wrestler who was one of the favorites to win his weight class defaulted on his first-round state tournament match rather than face one of the first girls to ever qualify for the event.

"I have a tremendous amount of respect for Cassy and Megan and their accomplishments. However, wrestling is a combat sport and it can get violent at times," wrote Northrup. "As a matter of conscience and my faith I do not believe that it is appropriate for a boy to engage a girl in this manner. It is unfortunate that I have been placed in a situation not seen in most other high school sports in Iowa."

I can’t blame him. The second he gets rough with her it is lawsuit city.
He cites his faith as a reason. Perhaps he is referring to Leviticus where it states that no man should lie down on a mat with a woman the way he would with a man......
or something like that.
Eww...
lol!
Manson...sheesh...
With a girl you have more options..
Wrestling is just a sport. Nobody dies or is permanently disabled. On a parallel track, Congress is working to repeal the ban on women in combat. If this happens the frontline women trigger pullers aren’t going to get a ‘bye” from the enemy. They are going to fight and some are going to die...violently. Why have the feminists brought this country to a sad and confused state? Do they get some sick satisfaction out of trying to make women equal in every role they seek?
The usual argument is that girls can't compete at the same level as boys. Not so here: the girl got to state on merit, by defeating boys on the mat.
So that argument is shot.
Which leaves us with the Islamic argument, that merely touching a girl in a wrestling match leaves him somehow unclean.
I suppose it's nice of him to pick a principle and stand up for it. But it's not a particularly useful one.
Please tell me the kid in the background isn’t wearing an Obama sweatshirt...
Most homeschool families I’ve talked to also have the policy that the boys are not to compete with the girls,
nor the girls with the boys, especially physically.
This is not what He created them to do.

My son wrestled in high school. In 9th grade he had to wrestle a girl. He ask what to do. I said beat her. That is your job. So he did. If she is on the mat she is fair game and she knows what is going on.
it’s no different than feminazis who sue to get into VMI, and want into combat units, but then will never be available for a draft and don’t have to sign up with selective service.
worse yet, these girls are probably being pushed by a parent to do so.
Title 9 is a stupid feminazi joke.
I see my screen name about to be used in a joke here...
Do you think it is even possible that a young adolescent boy might not only feel uncomfortable putting his hands and body all over a girl, but might be at a distinct disadvantage because he might be concerned about where he has to put his hands?
We can make a lot of jokes about that paragraph I just wrote, but the point I make is appropriate.
oh boy
It’s called the “Ice clamp”! LOL
Being disputatious sometimes requires a very active imagination.
A family friend had to wrestle a girl in a meet.
His team mates gave him the nickname “Woody”
It stuck. Most people do not know the origin.
