To Be a Republican Lawmaker in Madison
National Review Online ^ | 2/17/2011 | Jay Nordlinger

Posted on 02/17/2011 7:56:05 PM PST by daylilly

Randy Hopper is a state senator in Wisconsin. A Republican. He is now holed up with his colleagues — his Republican colleagues — in the capitol. The Democratic senators have apparently fled the state. Hopper says, “None of my colleagues from the minority party decided to come to work today.”

The Democrats are denying the Republicans the quorum necessary to vote on key fiscal legislation.

Hopper says, “I spent two years in the minority, and I came to work every day, even when I didn’t like the bills the majority was passing. I thought it was my job.” The Democrats, he says, “have relinquished their duties. The people sent them here to do a job, and they are refusing to do it. They’re in hiding. They ought to be ashamed of themselves.”

There is also a followup post from this author, with a few more comments about the courage of the Republican legislators. Talk about a steel spine! There ought to be a way to offer them moral support. Followup post: http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/260044/re-be-republican-lawmaker-madison-jay-nordlinger

This is the tactic the RATs used in MN during our legislative battles to get concealed carry passed. They hid in bathroom stalls (well, that’s what was thought they were doing there) and janitor’s closets. This is no joke; this is how it was here until the measure was added to a DNR funding bill and they had to vote or face an angry public.

The Democrats in Madison will rue this day. The bill will pass or 6,000 public workers get fired. The Nation is awake and the bullshit public unions are the first to go.

since the Democrats have voluntarily relinquished their duties, I’d interpret that as having quit (my boss certainly would if I pulled a stunt like this).

Send them their final paychecks within 24 hours, announce elections to be held in November, and let’s get on with the day’s legislation.

This is the absolute perfect example of the fourth columns ability to affect actions and outcomes. If the Republicans had done this we wouldn’t have reporting, we’d have editorializing. Since the rat’s did this we have reporting.
We can’t win enough battles to win the war if we don’t have neutral reporting. It is a foundation of a democratic republic. We don’t have neutral reporting, even on fox. I quit watching those sell-outs 2 yrs ago.
To me, the mandate for the Tea Party is to instill some sort of fear into the msm. Without that we are ultimately doomed.

Basically if I were Walker, I’d set a deadline to be in chambers Friday else I’d declare those seats vacant, and issue writs of election to replace all 14 democrat senators.

This is from Walker's campaign website:

According to Tonette, Scott's wife of 17 years, he is every bit as fiscally conservative when it comes to his personal finances. Scott drives a 1998 Saturn with 100,000 miles on it and packs the same brown bag lunch before heading to the office to save money: two ham and cheese sandwiches on wheat with mayo.

What a contrast with these whiners demonstrating in Madison.

Miracle Whip would be better.

I drove my Honda with 273,000 miles on it to work today. Take a good look at the teachers parking lot when you pass a school, it gives a good glimpse into their world.

Why are they hiding? Are they seeking asylum in Venezuela, or perhaps Cuba? What a cadre of slimey pukes. Shirking their responsibility for fear of defeat. Why can’t the Sgt of Arms charge them with dereliction of duty?

The Democratic senators have apparently fled the state...cowards, the 'rats know that the entire country is watching and they are about to be revealed for the corrupt thugs they are - vote against the school reform bill and everyone knows they would rather support their union piggy bankers than do what's best for the state - do what's right for the state and vote for it, and lose a lot of campaign funds and lock-step voters that they can count on forever otherwise - no wonder they're in hiding.....

Fire them ALL, and hold a massive job fair to replace them. Somehow I don't think any of the new applicants will complain about taking 7% less than the fired workers got.

Yep, I have a Honda with 232k on it. I pass by a middle school on my way to work with a parking lot full of large SUVs, BMWs, Lexi, etc. And this isn’t even a union state.

so why don't the Koch Brothers, and other conservative billionaires buy up ABCNBCCBS and replace the news division staffs?

The teachers at my kids' school have almost all foreign cars, with many Lexus and Audis amongst them.
