In CNN interview, veteran reporter refuses to call comments urging Jews to leave Israel and return to Europe insensitive, says Israel's treatment of the Palestinians is the real insensitivity.
The Jews did not have to leave Germany and Poland following the Holocaust since they were not being persecuted anymore, former White House correspondent Helen Thomas said in an interview on Thursday, adding that the Jews had no right to take other people's land.
Thomas, 90, stepped down from her job as a columnist for Hearst News Service in June of last year after a rabbi and independent filmmaker videotaped her outside the White House calling on Israelis to get "out of Palestine."

My guess it that most of them would have been happy to come to the US rather than go to British-mandate Palestine, but the Democratic President and the Congress (Democrat-controlled until January 1947) wouldn't let them in...the "national origins" rules were still in place.

People can live with those who want to kill them. It happens all the time. Why, just recently, we elected a Muslim President. And, after Muslims flew planes into our buildings, we apologized and let more of them in. Surely Jews could have apologized and tried to determine the source of the hatred.

I lived in Amsterdam, the Netherlands for many years. Prior to WW2, Amsterdam had the largest Jewish population in the world. When the Germans invaded all the Jews were sent to concentration camps. As the war progressed and there was no fuel, the city systematically dismantled the Jewish community board by board until there was nothing left. One of Amsterdam’s metro stops is dedicated to this event and the walls are covered with enlarged photos of what it looked like so that it would be never forgotten.
She is such a jerk. You know you’d think by the time you got to her age you’d have a little bit of sense. With all her years this woman has learned nothing.

Like many of their counterparts in other faiths, these Jews are such only in the cultural sense: they have abandoned Jewish principles for the leftist dogmas. So they have no problem in standing with the Left even if against Israel. The same things happened in communist Russia: just like the former Christian --- that is, those born into Christian families --- former Jews burned synagogues and churches with equal fervor. Communists know no allegiance but to one world with no ethnic groups and nationalities, ruled by "workers."
You shouldn't be therefore surprised. Orthodox Jews in America are conservative and vote consistently for Republican candidates. Jewish immigrants from Russia do overwhelmingly the same. But those are a minority, however; most Jews attend Reform temples. It is they who are largely liberal and vote Democratic.
That is the single most important question. This Helen of Lebanon is by now well known and hardly consequential. But giving voice to her ideas is consequential. The CNN scum knows that it is doing.

She’s absolutely right, the Jews didn’t have to leave; they could have settled among those who wanted them incorporated into soap and lamp shades, provided only that they were content to live in packing crates and watch their children being beaten and starved.
Silly people for wanting the sort of normal life other ethnicities take for granted.
