According to one source, reported in The Sunday Times newspaper, sensitive parts of her body were covered in red marks that were originally thought to have been bite marks.
After further examination they were revealed to be from aggressive pinching.
And medical sources have revealed that marks on her body were consistent with being whipped and beaten with the makeshift poles that were used to fly flags during the demonstration.

It’s just so OBVIOUS that she was courting trouble. Now, for those who need clarification: It was a bad thing.
ONE really bad thing is her employer didn’t protect her, and if they couldn’t guarantee her safety, she should not have been there.
And yes, I lived in the Middle East.
What bothered me the most is the total naivety of the western media. What SANE person would allow a blond American into such a frenzy. And yes, I said it: A blond.
I just sent my daughter over to Europe, and I told her that she should be very careful where she speaks English. I am not joking. We travel a lot, and the good old days when a US passport was a plus are long over.
Of course, any sign of Jewishness: a star-of-David necklace, Yamulka, or whatnot must be hidden, but almost to the same level do we hide our ‘American’ identity.
I just moved back from Europe around a year ago, and for those who have not been there since 9/11... it’s a different world..

There was this beautiful article that I read about two girls visiting the Middle East who ended up hitch-hiking and got picked up by an Arab who decided to take them back to his village.
He gets home and goes to his front door. His father opens the door, sees these two American girls and totally FREAKS OUT on them!! HOW COULD YOU GET INTO A CAR WITH A STRANGE MAN!

He then took them back to their tour leader and they both made major changes in their life-views.

It’s not about respecting culture, it’s about not acting stupidly when you are outnumbered 80,000,000 to one.
A news crew was driving very fast past some high rise buildings that had been badly shot-up by small arms and light artillery fire. They were on a four lane road and were taking some occasional sniper rounds. The news crew, local driver, reporter, and camera/sound man pulled off the highway for some footage. They stopped under the overhanging facade of a shot-up hotel and started filming.
A French news crew arrived and started doing the same thing. The French female reporter thought that the lighting wasn't right for her or some other stupid reason. She backed out from under the overhang and into the open — completely exposed to anyone in the surrounding high rises.
The news crews told her her to come back, but she knew what was better for her. There was a shot and a 198-grain 7.92x57 bullet hit her in the head killing her instantly. So much for your bubble of invincibility Ms. Journalist. You are now positively, completely, and irrevocably DEAD.
The point here is that the reporter (and her supporters) apparently expected her to be treated with OUR standards while she was in THEIR country.
Whoops! When you leave YOUR country, you leave YOUR standards behind. On the "Arab Street", that blonde dipdunk was a piece of meat waiting to be taken. If you want equal rights, a repesect for law, a repsect for journalism and a repsect for women, I suggest you confine your travels to the U.S. and Western Europe.....
Who are you to think that an American traveling in the Arab world brings a bubble of U.S. culture that envelops them and keeps them safe? I've been to the Middle East on business and I would NEVER bring my tall blonde wife there, any more than I'd take her to North Philadelphia, Camden, or any other 3rd world dunghole.

There is this thing in the Arab culture, that weakness is just pounced upon. So when they destroyed the twin towers there was just this blood-lust, and whenever we were in a public place that was heavily populated by Arabs they would walk up and mutter: ‘Ben Laden’
There is no way your typical American can understand the barbaric feelings there are there.
When I was there in the early 80’s there were so many who remembered Normandy, and had either fought in WWII or had heard about the American soldiers....
I remember being constantly hosted by appreciative Frenchies.
No such thing anymore, not at all.
Fortunately for the son, he is male, and thus his father sees no reason to honor-kill him.

I think liberal women in particular have manufactured a false sense of security.
They don't understand that the personal safety they are afforded requires the voluntary cooperation of the males around them. And most are honored to oblige. It is the way our mothers raise us and we embrace it.
But unfortunately you are correct, there are too many women who believe all men will automatically honor that agreement. But they don't.
Bless the Egyptian women who risked their own lives to shelter Ms. Logan from further harm, but until they take charge and start raising their own sons correctly, nothing will change.
And then there is this horrifying story of the 2 women hiking who came across 2 Arab men...who proceeded to stab them for some unknown reason...

Probably today’s mid-east is more frightening than your experiences, but I’m sure that when one looks around you, most people know when it’s time to move on.

If you mean to imply Lara Logan's not the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree, I'd have to agree.
She's learned a painful lesson and lived. Now, being a professional teller, maybe she'll tell about it, to the detriment of her colleagues' and her (hopefully former) agenda. Then, again, maybe not. In which case, I'll stand ready to recycle the salacious details of the attack.
Knowledgeable is valuable, but balanced is not. If you are truly knowledgeable, there is no need for balance. It just makes you sound liberal.
