LONDON (AP) -- The former Libyan justice minister has reportedly said that the man convicted of the Lockerbie bombing had blackmailed Libyan ruler Moammar Gadhafi into securing his release by threatening to expose his role in the attack.
The Sunday Times newspaper quoted Mustafa Abdel-Jalil as saying that Abdel Baset al-Megrahi had warned Gadhafi that he would "reveal everything" about the 1988 bombing of an American flight over Lockerbie, Scotland, if he wasn't rescued from a Scottish prison.

He couldn't have done anything without Scottish/British complicity.

Not really blackmail - that is a falling out between murderers and co conspirators.

Gadhafi should be brought to the United States to face 259 murder charges.

Gadhafi didn’t release this criminal..the UK did. They released him to get favor with Gadhafi. BP wanted it..they probably donated to Obama also not to raise a big ruckus about it.

I would think that the ripples go past Ghadaffi and right into the White House. I believe Ghadaffi could spill the truth on Obama.

And one of the 259 was a friend and neighbor of mine.
19 years old.

This may very well be true. Why then did authorities in the UK and the US collaborate in releasing this fellow back to Libya? Just to end the matter and get on with making money trading with Libya? One wonders also what the Iranian role may have been. I always suspected the Iranians planned the operation and paid the Libyans off to do as a way to pay the US back for the airliner shoot-down in the Persian Gulf in ‘86.
