DETROIT (AP) -- The state of Michigan will stop deducting union dues from thousands of people who provide child care at home, an official announced Tuesday, ending an arrangement created under a previous governor that sparked lawsuits over whether mandatory membership violates free speech rights.
Under the policy change, the 16,500 providers would keep millions of dollars in union dues that had gone to United Auto Workers and the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees. The providers, none of whom are on the state payroll, receive government subsidies for watching children from low-income families.

And for those that didn't know, the worst governor in the history of Michigan has bailed the state and now teaching her drivel in california.
Good riddance!
LOL I’m as happy as a little girl. LOL
Hopefully, the beginning of the end of legalized extortion.
Bye bye to mandatory union membership for what are basically glorified baby sitters.
The DemocRAT party has been using the Government to EXTORT money from the taxpayer to themselves by funneling it through the unions. Americans are starting to wake up to the extortion scheme.
LOL! NICE! I like this guy in Michigan too. Gov. Rick Snyder. Maybe the southern states like TX will start dumping RINOs like Perry, Kay Bailey and Cornyn because illegals are over running Texas.
Me too! Almost drove off an exit ramp on I-96 when I heard Frank Beckmann break that story this morning.
Ah, the Wicked Witch of Lansing is dead.
Are the home health care workers in the on deck circle? They got caught in the same situation.
The other GOP govs need to open up more fronts to help the fellow in Wisconsin taking all the fire.
The lying AP which is the newspapers and all the lib media are lying and saying support for the WS gov is slipping. Come on Snyder, Kasich, Daniels, Rick Scott in FL, Christie,DuPage in Maine and others - attack. Stretch the field and make the scum unions defend everywhere.
If anything Snyder is making a lot of conservatives happier than we expected to be. The liberals who voted for him probably aren’t exactly dancing in the streets.
The jury is still way out on our new guv, this union bitchslap came as a result of getting sued.
Let’s just say things moved on along a bit faster with a whole lot of new sheriffs in town.
Several states are considering legislation that would prevent the use of state resources and labor to collect and distribute union dues. As you can imagine, THIS is what the unions are REALLY fighting because they know that a large percentage of the people who have no choice about union dues will purposefully be delinquent on their dues and it will cost the unions (and their Rat buddies) millions.
No kidding. I saw a woman interviewed on FOX who said one day she got a letter in the mail saying she had to pay union dues to the United Auto Workers. She thought they'd made some kind of mistake. What did they have to do with her private day care service? She was shocked when she found out it was no mistake. She had to pay.....or else!
Forcing the unions to pass their own hat around is kind of a de facto right to work law. There are a lot of us in Michigan who are or have been in the union against our will.
Doing this with public sector employees would be a great start.
And the unions HATE it! They know that if the members have the option of paying their dues, the cash cow will dry up quicker than a puddle in Death Valley.
Snyder is mostly a RINO, but he does have good business sense.
Ah, the Wicked Witch of Lansing is dead
No, the Canadian born b!tch has moved to Califonicate after screwing the citizen’s of Michigan out of jobs and hope for eight fricking years.
Hoping a house falls on her.
Thanks quantim for the topic, and thanks to our new governor for rolling back one of Jenny Grandstand’s illegal decrees.
If you would like to be added or dropped from the Michigan ping list, please freepmail me.
