GREEN BAY - The Green Bay School Board has approved a large number of retirement requests from teachers and administrators.

With the future of the state budget uncertain, 140 teachers and 15 administrators asked to join the emeritus program. That works out to about 1 out of every 12 teachers in the district.

For decades, voters in Wisconsin sat on their asses and voted liberal Democrat.

People like me tried to warn them - and we were sneered at, mocked and made fun of.

Thus it’s really hard to feel sorry for the people of Wisconsin.

The unions (in every state) should have had their asses paddled years ago. Instead, it’s come to well entrenched minorities holding us hostage.

Yeah - it’s corrupt and immoral. But they’re going to get away with it. So what do you want me to say?

True, but they’re going to ruin the school budget for GB with this sweetheart deal.

Ironically, my 33 year old son who has a degree in computer programming got sick of dealing with “stupid people” decided to back to school and become a math teacher (wait until he has to deal with 30 stupid people at a time). He’s in Green Bay and is currently student teaching. This does improve his chances of getting a teaching job.

i talk into a microphone. and the software is designed to recognize my voice. But it is sensitive a change in the voice because of pain, a cold ot just something simple makes for a word change. It interprets it into text.

It is not perfect you can say a word and move on but the word can be corrected, the easiest way is by bringing a list of words, that have come up as sounds like. and you can find it or you correct it by typing the correct word so the next time it remebers that the word soken was meant for the word. I have only been trying to learn how to use since february 13, I had to train it to recognize my voice, but if I get tired the words get messed up badly.

I try to correct them but after a while i miss words and phrases.

there are also commands for cap That (capitalization). if you pause lately the program puts a cooma or a period.

I get frustrated with it moving from 70 WPM to voice.

some on FR have though I am either drunk or stoned. Neither. just sometimes I do not see my mistakes. I am trying to get better.

Thanks for the patience. whom knows in a couple of weeks I will be nearly perfect on the program. Hopefully when I return back to counseling in April or May I have it down so the case notes will be foolproof. but will have to train it to get the words connected with mental health. I have other software just for legal and medical but it does not include Diagnostic services manual revised IV. . So I am trying to train the computer to recognize the words.

This wave of retirements happened here in NJ last year, thanks to our Governor Christie. Good riddance! Now they can retire to a state where their school tax bill ISN’T $7,500 annually.

Our teachers showed they would sacrifice nothing when they refused concessions, which resulted in a lot of un-tenured teachers being laid off. I guess they’re re-thinking the whole union gig; they can’t wait the years it will take before our school districts start hiring again. The retiring teachers often couldn’t be replaced due to the salaries/benefits of those who stayed.

A lot of the retirements were administrators as well; without a union to protect them they knew the game was up.

Well laugh now you clowns.

With all these unfunded liabilities they’re going to bankrupt Green Bay.

And then a federal receiver is going to take over and all these fancy pension will go POOOF!

it is what happens when you have the union elected school boards negotiating with the union

Bears repeating.......at the taxpayers' expense. Wise-up, America.

It’s 8411 No and 4109 Yes yet the pie looks like a 50/50 split!

strange graph:

Do you support the protests by Wisconsin public employees?

more than twice as many "No" votes, but looks equal on the graph?

I see twice as many votes say no, they don’t support the workers protests yet their pie chart is at 50-50. Go figure!

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL

This ping list is for the “other” articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)

The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.

In our rural area in NE WIS, there are 8 teachers that have signed up for this 'program'. All retiring and all younger than I am - younger than 54.
What a scam.

Less than equal. If you look at the graph, there is a thin blue piece of the pie for the third option, so it looks like the “no” votes are LESS than half.

A very dishonest graph, and the illiterate will likely be fooled.
