He didn’t actually brew it himself.

The kitchen team used normal homebrew ingrediants and the gear that they bought with the Obama’s cash.

They used one half pound of honey taken from the hives kept in the royal, I mean presidential gardens.

This use of honey does not make the drink a mead as it was only used as extra sugar for the yeast to eat in the fermentation process. A mead uses honey as a base in lieu of grains.

I do have to say that every article I read about BHO’s love of beer gives me just that ever fainter glimmer of hope that there is a real American in there somewhere.

BS. I would bet a sizable sum of cash that Warren Harding bootlegged and boozed it up in the White House throughout the Twenties......I mean he was a Shriner, after all...

Home brewed beer my *ss... With barley & hops from the WH garden, right?

Why is this a stretch? Home BREWED! Not home grown.

Question is, did he actually brew it or did the staff?

Did he put a picture of his "White House Honey" on the label?

The beer (called White House Honey Ale) was brewed with one pound of honey from the White House beehive, Obama Foodorama reports. The site adds that the ale was made by “an unnamed White House chef who is a home-brewing enthusiast.”

The homemade microbrew was served up in bottles with labels that read “brewed with White House honey.”

President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama sampled the suds for the first time on Sunday evening, along with some of their 200 guests.

Those gathered — including Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony — were served gridiron favorites including bratwurst, cheeseburgers, deep dish pizza, Buffalo wings and German potato salad.

******

The First Lady’s office confirms that the White House chefs made one batch of beer using about a pound of honey from the First Lady’s honey hive, on the South Lawn of the White House.

The chefs used the traditional methods to brew the beer, and the First Lady’s office confirms that the Obamas paid for the equipment.

And Mrs. Obama has also given the harvested honey from the White House hive as gifts. At the G-20 meetings in Pittsburgh the First Lady gave the visiting spouses a wooden box including two jars of White House honey.

******

That ‘White House honey’ has really gone a long way. Must be one hell of a beehive. /s

The "honey" part of the beer comes from Michelle Obama's garden beehive. The beehive is also a White House first.

First of all they didn’t buy equipment with their own funds. Now we have two alcoholics up there.

OK, so Obama did not brew the beer. More points removed.

That's just one ingredient. Either way it was a good touch but Obami didn't brew it so the article's claim is bogus.

Billy Carter and his bro Jimmy are to be thanked by the homebrew/microbrew revolution in this country. That is at least one thing that Old NUTZ did right!

Every single glass of homemade beer or wine I have ever tried was undrinkable or close to it.

I’m amused by the notion of all the arse-licking toadies and flunkies at this party drinking this bilge and avowing, “It’s delicious, Ma’am”, as they barely keep their dinner down.

No.

With mead (as I understand it - wannabe home brewer), it is the honey itself that is fermented. In honey beer, it is still the grains that are fermented, and the honey is an additional flavor added.

Again, just from reading up on something I hope to do some day, so I might be shaky on the details.

YOu need better friends. I have had homebrews are really quite good. And I confess to being something of a beer snob (as in the Germans need to send their master brewers over to the British Isles to get a clue).

And, he’s got all that extra time on his hands. Grrrrrr. He leaves the running of the country to his union and Chicago thug friends.
