New York Plans Gun Registration

First they came for our bicycles.

Now they’ve come for our guns.

One day after word leaked of a New York State plan to require license plates and annual fees for bicycles, information has gotten out about pending legislation that would register and attach a fee to every firearm in the state.

Already one of the most anti-gun states in the country, New York’s move would all but nullify the Second Amendment.

At issue is Senate Bill 2994, which is linked in its entirety at the bottom of this column. It would require every gun owner in the state to make a list of their firearms, to include make, description and serial number, and file that list with the county clerk.

Further, gun owners would have to specify where in their homes each of their firearms were stored when not in use.

Yeah, but you will have to pay an annual registration fee. I think it’s $100 per gun.

Sorry. The bill says an initial fee of $35 per gun and an annual renewal fee of $10 per gun.

first time registration $25.00 per gun then $10.00 per gun every year thereafter. UTTER BS way for NYS to grab more money from the people.

[Munz] first time registration $25.00 per gun then $10.00 per gun every year thereafter.

That's the sucker's intro rate. Anybody think it'll stay at that, when Chuckie and the grabbers think they've got the gun owners on the run?

Like the pukes at Sulzberger's shop like to say, "first you establish the 'principle' ....." Then you shove it up their *ss and talk sagely about policy and wisdom.

I lost all of my guns in a boating accident.

The bottoms of vast lakes in Canada were littered with fine autoloader shotguns and sidearms, after the Canadian LeftRatsheviks passed their KGB gun law ..... gun owners all over Canada got boatman's butterfingers. I'm sure that will happen on New York's lakes, too.

If you don’t own a gun, you should be angry, and WORRIED, too, because criminals will KNOW you don’t have a gun to protect yourself.

“Gun owners know that criminals will never register their illegally possessed guns and, in fact, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in Haynes v. U.S. (309 U.S. 85 (1968)) that since felons are prohibited from owning firearms, compelling them to register their guns would violate their Fifth Amendment rights against self-incrimination.”
