LOUISVILLE, KY (AP) - A small Kansas church known for protesting at the funerals of dead servicemen and women is planning a trip to Kentucky this weekend.

Westboro Baptist Church members say they plan demonstrations at three Kentucky churches in Owensboro on Saturday: the Blessed Mother Catholic Church, Owensboro Christian Church and Bellevue Baptist Church.

They also announced plans to protest at Saint Lawrence Catholic Church in Louisville on Sunday.

One of the Owensboro churches was the site of a suicide of a man who said in a note he had been sexually abused.

Re: Some loud motorcycles ought to do the trick.

A Blackhawk hovering just out of ground effect over them with its M-60 door guns in place would be great. OIF vet.

I guess nobody has any guts anymore. How sad.

There once was a time — within living memory, no less — when the arrival of a pack of pure knuckleheads like this would be met with a “vigorous” welcome by some of the menfolk of the town. These gents wouldn’t want to see their community’s good name besmirched, so they would defend it.

After a strategy session at the local watering hole, the gentlemen would go out and ... uh ... how do we put this ... aw hell, just say it ... BUST SOME HEADS! What’s the worst that could possibly happen? An assault charge? Yeah, I’d go before a jury of my neighbors on that charge, especially against this vile group, any day of the week, month or year.

But no more. Now we are too “enlightened” to do the right thing. Instead, we whine and wring our hands and act like little girls and hope for good press coverage. (Yeah, right.) Then the protestors get to drive off to go embarrass somebody else, like maybe the family of a fallen Marine, without a single bruise to show for it.

Disgusting. We Americans used to have so much more pride.

So... they’re not protesting a funeral?

When there is a military funeral these punks want to protest, the funeral home/church/family or whomever should declare it to be an invitation only private affair, ticket required.

Then if they show up they can be arrested. No ticket, no free speech.

What ever happened to the good old days when people like this could be “reasoned with” and have the situation “explained” to them?

I would say that protesting like this in Kentucky, a state that has paid a lot more than it’s fair share in blood for the country, is pretty gutsy. Or suicidal.

A few LARGE guys just need to beat the living shite out of these clowns. That will slow them down one hell of a a lot quicker than another trip to court!!! The old fashioned ways work best.

Not going to happen. They send women and children to hold their disgusting signs and chant their odious slogans. Yeah, they're hiding behind skirts and using their maliciously mis-educated children as shields, but what can you do?

But if you're willing to beat up women and children you know where to be on Saturday.

If the deceased aren’t veterans the PGR has no reason to be there.

The PGR is not an anti-Westboro group.

The PGR is PRO veteran.

I recently overheard a discussion of Democrat Phelps and the Westboro Baptists on NPR. (I hate NPR but sometimes I can't avoid hearing it.) I don't think they ever mentioned DEMOCRAT, but they did manage in typical MSM fashion to put BAPTIST front and center. The implication seemed clear: Fred Phelps and the Westboro Baprists are just typical religious conservative hatemongers.

I gather that there is no way to force the Westboro Baptists to change their name, but the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) is listed in Wikipedia as the largest association of Baptists in America, and they have this to say about Democrat Phelps and his crew:

20. Is Fred Phelps (the pastor of the Westboro Baptist Church and leader of those who protest under the slogan "God Hates Fags") or his church affiliated with the SBC?

We share concern over the unbiblical views and offensive tactics of Fred Phelps and his followers at Westboro (Independent) Baptist Church in Topeka, Kansas. Westboro does not have now, nor has ever had, any relationship with the Southern Baptist Convention. His extreme positions not only stand in contrast to the SBC, more importantly, they stand in contrast to God's Word. Scripture clearly teaches that homosexual behavior is sinful in the eyes of a just and holy God; but the Bible also clearly proclaims God’s love for all sinners, including homosexuals, and that He offers forgiveness to all who repent and place their faith in the atoning death of Jesus Christ for our sins.

I’ve been wondering where they get the funds to pull off
these gruesome protests. It seems the Phelps family has a
fairly large nest egg but I can find no information as to the source.
After seeing photos of Phelps with the Gores I now believe they are being paid by Dems to act as crazy Christians to help drag the people further from religion.

Yes, it only takes a minute's thought to conclude that if the DEMOCRAT Westboro fungi really believed what they write on their signs, these DEMOCRATS would go about professing it much, much differently.

I strongly suspect that these DEMOCRATS are double-agent poseurs, and that's why these DEMOCRATS are such pitifully poor fakers of what they pretend to peddle.

I'll add for context that these DEMOCRATS are DEMOCRATS.
