That, from the new statement from NPR's Dana Rehm, is the shoe that took all day to drop. The entire statement, which also clarifies that Schiller decided to leave before the sting occurred:
The comments contained in the video released today are contrary to everything we stand for, and we completely disavow the views expressed. NPR is fair and open minded about the people we cover. Our reporting reflects those values every single day in the civility of our programming, the range of opinions we reflect and the diversity of stories we tell.**snip**
The assertion that NPR and public radio stations would be better off without federal funding does not reflect reality. The elimination of federal funding would significantly damage public broadcasting as a whole.
David Folkenflik has more, including the key detail that the "administrative leave" is, yes, confirmation that Schiller is gone. Schiller's first day at the Aspen Institute is April 1; I've checked in with the institute just to make sure he's still starting there.

WGBH, the public radio station, always played Classical music in the mornings, and sometimes on the weekends. They learned of the sale of WCRB, and decided to try a listener supported All Classical format. It seems to have been a success, and I suspect that others, like I, who would never have sent a dime to WGBH, are supporting WCRB. There are limited commercials on the station, as well, from businesses that had advertised on WCRB before, and continued on after the sale. They are very tasteful, of course. ;o)

KDFC (San Francisco), another classical music station, recently became listener-supported, and it is very refreshing to listen to.
The comments contained in the video released today Sum up everything we stand for, and we completely support the views expressed. NPR is fair and open minded about the people we slander and smear. Our reporting reflects those liberal progressive values every single day in the lack of civility of our programming, the singularity of opinion we reflect and the diversity of stories we invent.
The assertion that the American Public would be better off without federal funding for NPR does not reflect reality. The elimination of federal funding would significantly damage public broadcasting as a whole. Its just not fair so just stop it. WAaaaaaaaa!!!!
The gullible die first....all of them.
NPR = National (communist) Propaganda Radio, which should have never received one dime in tax payer funds.
It does change one thing. The next time some idiot calls and wants to donate five million and have lunch at a fancy restaurant in DC...there will hours and hours of investigation to determine if they are legit or not.
Hah hah!!
That would be a great line to read over and over while downing a good beer with friends!
Laughter is always relaxing!
I figured SIL meantyour sister in law. I just wanted to yank your chain and give you a laugh. :0)
NPR (National Socialist Propaganda Radio)is mindless drivel for drones who are too lazy to read, research and dig.
“...But these underhanded things have a way of reaping some bad karma of the same kind....”
Disagree, respectfully. The left has been “underhanding”, undermining, subverting, and basically erasing everything good about this country for decades now.
Episodes like this NPR one, and the prior ACORN videos, expose exactly what kind of trash these subversive assh*les really are, what they think of the rest of us, and I’ll wager, if we probe deeper, what they think they could DO to us if they could get away with it.
If we’re going to beat them, we need to expose them. And NOTHING exposes them more than their own words. It’s one thing to hear things second-hand - that can be easily refuted and the argument changed into a “He said/She said” contest, and quickly becomes “who ya gonna believe - me (insert media personality/pop culture icon/clueless View Bimbo) or that EVIL right-wing/white supremacist/Fundamentalist Christian/Militia-paramilitary/islamo/homophobic hatemonger”???
But it becomes an entirely different thing altogether when you actually hear the vile crap they spew and put faces on them, seeing it come from their own mouths. They CAN’T refute it.
No, brother, this is good. They’re getting a spotlight shined on them, and like the cockroaches they are, they’re trying to hide from the light and maintain their “cover”.
I say good on ya, O’Keefe - at least someone finally has the balls to go after the sources of the infection.
Fight fire with superior firepower. And a lot of balls.
