Republicans try to override health care bill veto

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- Republican legislators are doing what they can to find enough votes to override Governor Perdue’s veto of House Bill number 2.

The bill would block part of the federal health care law that requires people to buy health insurance or face a penalty.

Governor Perdue said she believes this is all politics at play.

“I actually continue to believe this bill is a political distraction,” Governor Perdue said. “It’s been a political distraction from the start.”

Perdue believes the issue of requiring Americans to buy health insurance or face a fine will end up in the Supreme Court.

Still, she said she is meeting with legislators on both sides of the aisle.

“I have begun to have some of the meetings in the mansion and some of the meetings in the Capitol, and I think that works well for all of us,” Perdue said.

A bill to require citizens to buy something or face fines or “penalties” is a distraction? Can’t add much more to that!

“I actually continue to believe this bill is a political distraction,” Governor Perdue said. “It’s been a political distraction from the start.”

Socialists/communists have always considered the Constitution and particularly the 10th Amendment a distraction.

Perdue believes the issue of requiring Americans to buy health insurance or face a fine will end up in the Supreme Court.

Perdue either doesn't understand or chooses to ignore the fact SCOTUS is not the final authority on the Constitution. That power is reserved to the states or to the people per the 10th Amendment. If SCOTUS were the final authority, then they could be able to change the Constitution at their whim as no one would have the power to stop them.

Apparently, the SCt doesn’t know about the states and the people either, since they regularly change the Constitution with their rulings....

They don't have that power Constitutionally. It's due to the people allowing it to happen. The people can take it back.

It's up to the people to educate SCOTUS by asserting our 10th Amendment rights.

We can try probably by a constitutional ammendment more clearly defining the role of the courts.

But its been that way since John Jay.
