Man threatened U.S. senator over wolf controversy, feds say

SAN FRANCISCO -- A convicted arsonist and sex offender has been charged in federal court with sending an e-mail in which he allegedly threatened to kill a U.S. Senator if she didn't oppose legislation that would end environmental protections for wolves, court records show.

Tras Gustav Karlsson Berg, 35, who recently moved from San Anselmo to Oakland, sent an e-mail to the California senator on Feb. 24 entitled, "Oppose the Anti-Wolf Continuing Resolution," according to a complaint filed Tuesday in U.S. District Court in San Francisco.

Berg wrote, "I'm going to shoot you with a high-powered rifle and bomb your house with poison gas the way wolf hunters do if you don't do everything you can to oppose legislation that would eliminate Endangered Species Act protections for wolves across the country RIGHT F- NOW!" the complaint said.

In December, a group of Republican members of Congress sponsored a bill that would remove gray wolves from the endangered species list and turn over regulation of the species to individual states.

A convicted arsonist and sex offender has been charged

The typical profile of an environmental "activist".

If I had to choose to deal with a wolf or a sex offender, I would choose the wolf. He is more of a danger IMHO. Hopefully, this nut job will get a visit from the police.

Nothing will happen to him, since he’s obviously a left-wing nutjob, and wouldn’t know how to buy a high powered rifle, wouldn’t know how to shoot it and probably couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn between tears, the Senator will let him of with a group hug.

if he were a Tea Party member who hailed from rural Michigan he’d already be serving his 99-year sentence

The most starling thing I noticed is that wolf hunters apparently REGULARLY shoot this U.S. senator with high-powered rifles and bomb her house with poison gas, and yet she has never reported the crimes to anyone!

;-)

Clever headline. If it had been a rancher who made the threat, instead of a left wing whacko, they would have screamed something about violent right-wing teabaggers who want to persecute the poor, innocent wolves.

As it is, you read the headline and it’s completely unclear which side the alleged perp is on. You have to read the article, and even that makes the story as vague as possible.

Probably, and worse. Marxists always believe the end justifies the means. That is why they are so evil....their ideology is evil. They have no moral absolutes except the one that there is no moral absolute.....such a paradox and everything is allowed—they are the gods who decide what is right and wrong.

If it had been a rancher the guy would have used the 3-S system on the wolves & not bothered with a threat to a Congress critter.

The 3-S system is SHOOT the wolf ,get a SHOVEL & bury the wolf & finally SHUT-UP about it.

Next election, the Democrat Party will run him for office.
And he may get elected.

If past practice is any guide he won’t get elected but after months of litigation he will be sworn into office anyway

Better the sex offender. Sex offenders are not a protected species and there is less paperwork involved when you shoot one.

LOL! I figured you can throw a hunk of meat at a wolf and it would keep him busy in time to get away. For a sex offender, you had to throw one of your kids. Much rather deal with a canine than a human any day of the week but the hole you would need to dig is much deeper and wider. LOL

Get away? I go with Palin’s advice — don’t retreat, reload. Besides, a sex offender is both larger than a wolf and slower-moving. Lot’s easier to hit. And you don’t have to use the last two “s’s” with a sex offender. You can call the cops for a clean-up on aisle 3. Less digging.
